摘要: An optical-mechanical rotation sensing mechanism for a web-roll rotatably mounted within a cartridge comprises a flange on the web-roll, activating means on the flange, and an optical sensor, outside the cartridge, including a beam of light for sensing incremental rotation of the flange and web-roll. A movable flag on the cartridge exterior actuates the optical sensor in response to movement of the flag between a first position, in which the light beam is interrupted, and a second position in which the light beam is uninterrupted. A coupling means, including a light-shield hood, couples the flange activating means to the flag for moving the flag between its first and second positions.

摘要: There is described a package and method of packaging that provide, in inexpensive form, means for adding accurate amounts of one material to another. The package, which can come as a kit to be added to a lyophilizing bottle and stopper, features a portion that is added to the bottle outlet to confine the material that is to be stored separate from the contents of the bottle. That portion includes a plunger preferably constructed to provide a dual function: that of sealing the stopper against the bottle outlet, and of permanently attaching to the stopper to remove it from the bottle when the plunger is moved within the upper portion. Because of its hollow configuration, the plunger can be used to pour off the resulting mixture.

摘要: A film cassette is disclosed wherein a spool is rotatable within the cassette shell, a convoluted film roll is wound on the spool, and a pair of flanges are rotatable with the spool. The flanges have respective disks overlying opposite sides of the film roll and respective annular lips circumferentially extending from the disks to radially confine an outermost convolution of the film roll to prevent the outermost convolution from clock-springing against an interior wall of the cassette shell. Each of the annular lips includes an annular constraining section positioned relatively remote from one of the disks and a predetermined radial distance from the spool to enable a lip to contact the outermost convolution of the film roll at a limited location remote from a disk, to radially confine the outermost convolution, and it includes an annular relief section extending from the disk to the constraining section and positioned a predetermined radial distance from the spool, greater than the first-mentioned distance, to enable a lip to avoid contacting the outermost convolution substantially between the disk and the constraining section. This arrangement provides an essentially radial contact between the annular lips and the outermost convolution, thereby preventing any clock-springing of the film roll from generating an axial force against the flanges of the spool.

摘要: In a film cassette, a film spool is rotatable independently of a pair of coaxially spaced rotatable disks. The two disks have respective circumferential lips which prevent the outermost leader convolution of a film roll wound on the spool from clock-springing into contact with the cassette shell. When the spool is initially rotated, the disks may remain substantially stationary and the film roll, since its inner end is secured to the spool, tends to expand radially to ensure a non-slipping relation between the outermost leader convolution and the lips. Then, rotation of the spool must rotate the disks and stationary internal spreaders will deflect successive sections of the disks to an axial dimension exceeding the film width, thereby allowing corresponding sections of the outermost leader convolution to exit from the radial confinement of the lips. Stationary internal guides direct the freed end of the outermost leader convolution to the cassette opening. Sufficient film thrust is provided by the spool as it is rotated, to thread the film leader along a predetermined path from the cassette opening, particularly because the outermost leader convolution is kept out of contact with the cassette shell.

摘要: An x-ray cassette including a body having an interior configured to hold a sheet of x-ray film. The body has a window disposed for the transmission of light into the interior of the body. A shutter is mounted on the body. The shutter is free of apertures. The shutter is slideable relative to the window between a closed position, in which the shutter occludes the passage of light through the window, and an open position, in which the shutter is spaced apart from the window to allow the passage of light through the window. A mechanical latch is reversibly translatable between locked and released configurations. The latch in the locked configuration arrests the shutter in the closed position. The latch in the released configuration frees the shutter.

摘要: A light lock (10) for a film packet holder (12) provides opposing upper and lower light lock members (32,34) that are urged into contact with opposite exterior surfaces of the film packet 12 after a film packet clip (30) has moved into the holder beyond a point where the light lock (10) defines a closed position. Thus the light lock members (32,34) are only separated by the film packet at the closed position. 摘要: A toner container includes a containing portion and a cover. The cover is generally to be positioned adjacent a toner sump and the containing portion slid off the cover onto the sump. To prevent accidental removal of the cover when the container is not in a receiving apparatus, a releasable latch is provided for holding the cover on the container. The latch is releasable by the same motion used to position the containing portion over the sump.

摘要: A cassette for holding sheet film during exposure to x-radiation includes first and second hingedly connected panels. Both panels are curved substantially cylindrically when in the open condition, with the axes of the cylinders parallel to the hinge line and with the convexities facing one another. One of the panels is formed of carbon fiber reinforced plastics material and additionally, in some regions, deviates from the cylindrical by being curved towards the other panel, when in the open condition. Thus, while the cylindrical curvature is convex towards the other panel the regions of curvature out of the cylindrical exhibit some concavity towards the other panel. Such a panel improves the contact of the intensifying screens with the film and also the integrity of the light seal at the periphery of the cassette.

摘要: A film cassette is disclosed wherein a pair of annular constraining flanges are coaxially spaced on a film spool. The flanges radially confine the outermost convolution of a film roll wound on the spool to prevent the film roll from clock-springing against the cassette shell and thereby hindering film movement. A pair of internal cam members are rotatable from outside of the cassette shell to open a light lock by slightly separating opposite throat portions of the shell. Another pair of internal cam members are rotated with the first pair to flex a limited section of the flanges apart an axial distance sufficient to radially free a corresponding section of the outermost convolution. Then, rotation of the film spool will cause successive sections of the flanges to be momentarily flexed apart, and each freed section of the outermost convolution will be advanced automatically to the outside of the cassette shell.
