摘要： A developer regulating member includes a thin plate having a spring property and a polyamide-containing rubber layer disposed on the thin plate. The polyamide-containing rubber layer contains a polyamide having the Shore D hardness between 25 and 65 both inclusive. A developing apparatus includes a developer container for containing a monocomponent developer of negative charging property, a developer carrying member provided in an opening portion of the developer container, for carrying the developer, and a regulating member for forming a nip together with the developer carrying member and regulating a thickness of a developer layer on the developer carrying member. A surface of the regulating member forming the nip is comprised of a polyamide-containing rubber layer containing a polyamide having the Shore D hardness between 25 and 65 both inclusive.

摘要： A fixing device includes a heating element fixedly supported during a fixing procedure, a film, apparatus enabling the film to slide against the heating element, and a pressurizing roller for pressing a recording material on which a toner image is supported against the film. The heating element has a substrate, a heat generating layer provided on the substrate, and a heat-melting portion provided on the substrate. The heat-melting portion melts at a temperature higher than the fixing temperature and lower than the withstanding temperature of the substrate and thereby disconnects the heat generating layer from its power source.

摘要： The present invention relates to a developing apparatus using magnetic carrier particles and toner particles under the influence of an alternating current. One embodiment of the present invention includes a developer which is a mixture of toner particles and resin coated magnetic particles. An alternating electric field is formed between a latent image bearing member and developer carrying member to form a toner image corresponding to an electrostatic latent image. An electric resistivity curve of the magnetic particles on a coordinate graph, where the abscissa represents an electric field E (V/cm) applied to the magnetic particles and the ordinate represents an electric resistivity R (ohm-cm) of the magnetic particles, crosses a zone defined by lines, AB, BD, DC and CA, whereA is a point with coordinates (0.2.times.10.sup.3, 10.sup.11);B is a point with coordinates (2.times.10.sup.3, 3.times.10.sup.9);C is a point with coordinates (0.2.times.103, 10.sup.8); andD is a point with coordinates (2.times.10.sup.3, 2.times.10.sup.7).The resistivity R is measured by a sandwich type cell having electrodes with a clearance of 0.4 cm and an electrode area of 4 cm.sup.2, in which 1 kg wt. is applied to one of the electrodes, and a voltage is applied across the electrodes.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a photosensitive drum, a charging roller, a transfer roller, and a toner charging brush, wherein the toner charging brush reciprocates in a longitudinal direction of the photosensitive drum. In the image forming apparatus, when a number of rotations per a unit time of the image bearing member is assumed to be “a” and a number of times of reciprocation per unit time of the toner charging brush is assumed to be “b” assuming that R=b/a, R is set to be in a range of 1/25≦R≦3. However, R=m/n (m and n are integers of 5 or less) is excluded. Consequently, generation of a periodic attachment pattern appearing on the photosensitive drum is eliminated.

摘要： Provided are an image forming apparatus and method of controlling same in which when toner replenishment from a toner accommodating unit has been performed satisfactorily, a no-toner indication can be cancelled without taking more time than necessary, and in which the status of the toner accommodating unit can be reported to the user earlier even if a toner accommodating unit that has no toner or that has malfunctioned has been installed. Whether a toner accommodating unit (5) has toner is determined based upon a detection signal from a toner density sensor (46) that detects the toner density of a developer in a developing unit (4). If it is determined that there is no toner in the toner accommodating unit (5) and the toner accommodating unit (5) is replaced, this is detected and a toner density restoration sequence for restoring the density of toner in the developing unit (4) is executed. The toner density restoration sequence is controlled based upon a predetermined target value relating to toner density restoration and a toner density restoration decision value (V1) that is different from said predetermined target value.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a photosensitive drum, a charge roller for charging the photosensitive drum, a developing device for developing an electrostatic latent image formed on the charged photosensitive drum with a developer, a first auxiliary charging brush which is located upstream from the charge roller in a movement direction of a surface of the photosensitive drum and applies a voltage of a polarity opposite to a normal polarity of a polarity opposite to a normal polarity of the developer, and a second auxiliary charging brush which is located downstream from the first auxiliary charging brush and upstream from the charge roller and applies a voltage of a polarity identical to the normal polarity of the developer. In the image forming apparatus, the first auxiliary charging brush is supplied with an AC voltage to be improved in recovery performance of a transfer residual developer, and contamination of charging means can be prevented.
