    摘要: A mobile terminal is controlled via over-the-air feedback so as to enable its data transmissions to be independently and successfully decoded at each of the base stations in its active set absent a transmit power limitation or data retransmission limit. Using the decoded data, the channel is re-estimated and the waveform received from the mobile terminal is reconstructed and subtracted from the total interference at each base station in the active set where decoding has been successful. As a result, transmissions from other mobile terminals, which have yet to be successfully decoded at such a base station, will experience a higher signal-to-noise ratio and thus an increased likelihood of being successfully decoded.

    摘要: In an example method of scheduling mobile users, mobile users are assigned to one of at least a first layer and a second layer, where each of the first and second layers are associated with a same frequency band. The mobile users are further assigned, in the first layer, to different frequency sub-bands in the frequency band such that the users in the first layer have non-overlapping first sub-band assignments. The mobile users are further assigned, in the second layer, to different frequency sub-bands in the frequency band such that the users in the second layer have non-overlapping second sub-band assignments. The mobile users are then scheduled for transmission based on the first and second layer and the first and second sub-band assignments. In a further example decoding method, layer transmissions are decoded in succession with interference cancellation performed between each layer decoding step. In a second example decoding method, mobile users in multiple layers and within assigned channels are jointly decoded.

In a first example reverse link power control process, a signal-to-interference+noise (SINR) is measured for a plurality of mobile stations. A power control adjustment is determined for each of the mobile stations based on the measured SINR for the mobile station and a fixed target SINR, the fixed target SINR being used in the determining step for each mobile station and sending the power control adjustments to the mobile stations. In a second example reverse link power control process, one or more signals are transmitted to a base station. A power control adjustment indicator indicating an adjustment to a transmission power level is received. The received power control adjustment is determined based on a measured signal-to-interference+noise ratio (SINR) for the one or more transmitted signals and a fixed target SINR threshold, the fixed target SINR threshold being used for power control adjustment of a plurality of mobile stations.

    摘要: Disclosed is an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) based wireless communications system operable to communicate OFDMA type signals over a set of dynamically assigned orthogonal sub-carriers and Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) type signals over a set of pre-allocated orthogonal sub-carriers. The OFDMA system utilizes pre-allocated orthogonal sub-carriers for CDMA type signal transmission in order to reduce the number of dynamic assignments of orthogonal sub-carriers in a typical OFDMA system. The OFDMA type signals may be signals processed in accordance with well-known OFDMA techniques, whereas the CDMA type signals may be signals processed in accordance with well-known CDMA and OFDMA techniques. The CDMA type signals may also be processed using a pre-coder incorporating a Discrete Fourier Transformer (DFT) matrix or Identity matrix to reduce the Peak-to-Average Power Ratio across the OFDMA system.
