Abstract: A reduced-pressure system for delivering reduced pressure for medical purposes to a desired site and to receive fluids in one instance includes a reservoir having an interior space operable to contain the fluids. A reduced-pressure delivery conduit is placed in fluid communication with the interior space for delivering the reduced pressure to the desired site. A source conduit and a pressure sensor conduit are placed in fluid communication with the interior space. A pressure sensor is placed in fluid communication with the pressure sensor conduit. A reduced-pressure source is placed in fluid communication with the source conduit. A reduced-pressure control unit is associated with the pressure sensor and the reduced-pressure source and is operable to receive pressure data from the pressure sensor and supply data from the reduced-pressure source and to determine when a reservoir-full/blockage condition exists. Other systems and methods are presented.

Abstract: The present invention generally relates to devices and systems that utilize an inflatable bladder for generating, cutting, capturing, and/or transplanting one or more skin blisters. In some aspects, methods and devices in accordance with the present teachings can enable the harvesting of skin grafts from an increased variety of potential donor sites, such as areas of the body having uneven surfaces or a smaller radius of curvature (e.g., the arm) or large area donor sites where the creation of a vacuum may require a high power negative pressure source. In various aspects, systems, devices, and methods in accordance with the present teachings can also enable the efficient transplant of the grafts directly from the skin graft harvester to the recipient site without the transfer of the grafts generated by the harvester to another substrate prior to transplantation.

Abstract: A wound therapy system includes a therapy unit, a wound dressing and an optional controller. The therapy unit is configured to deliver instillation fluid to a wound site. The wound dressing is formed from a plurality of discrete, individual blocks that are selectively separable from one another along a plurality of separation-lines, allowing the wound dressing to be customized to the shape and size of the wound site. By calculating the remaining blocks that define the wound dressing following customization, the volume of the wound dressing may be determined. The controller may be configured to deliver fluid to the wound site based on this calculated volume. The controller may also optionally be used to gauge the healing of the wound site over time by monitoring the changes in volume of customized wound dressings as wound dressings are replaced during the course of treatment of the wound site.

Abstract: One implementation of the present disclosure is a method for dynamically controlling an alarm of a negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) device, according to some embodiments. In some embodiments, the method includes initiating NPWT, comparing an initial pump duty to a threshold value to determine a dressing application quality, monitoring a leakage rate of the NPWT, setting a leak threshold value based on the dressing application quality, determining leakage event occurrences in response to the leakage rate exceeding the leak threshold value at multiple times, adjusting the leak threshold value based on at least one of a number of the leakage events over the time period, a time duration between sequentially occurring leakage events of the leakage events, and the dressing application quality, and causing a user interface device to display a leak alert in response to the leakage rate exceeding the adjusted leak threshold value.

Abstract: A negative pressure wound therapy system includes at least one sensor coupled to a wound dressing for a wound of a patient, and a processing circuit. The at least one sensor is configured to output a measurement of the pressure in the wound dressing. The processing circuit is configured to open a sealable aperture, receive the pressure measurements in the wound dressing, calculate a rate of pressure decay, correlate the rate of pressure decay in the wound dressing to a wound dressing fluid absorbent capacity and other therapy parameters, and output the wound dressing fluid absorbent capacity and other therapy parameters to a remote electronic device.

Abstract: A pump generates a vacuum at a wound site via first tubing. A negative pressure circuit is defined by a canister, the first tubing and the wound site. A controller of a therapy device operates the pump to apply a first negative pressure to the entirety of the negative pressure circuit, following which ambient air is allowed to flow into the negative pressure circuit. The controller also operates the pump to apply a second negative pressure to a selected portion of the negative pressure circuit exclusive of the wound site, following which ambient air is allowed to flow into the selected portion. A quantity of fluid to be delivered to the wound site via a second tubing is determined by comparing measured parameters related to the flow of air into the negative pressure circuit to parameters measured with respect to the flow of air into the selected portion.

Abstract: Methods, devices and systems are disclosed for generating and harvesting skin grafts having improved properties and for ensuring efficient and consistent blister formation and/or reducing patient harm and discomfort. In one aspect, the invention infuses a fluid into skin tissue at the donor site to enhance blister formation. The fluid infusion can occur before or after application of negative pressure—or can be cyclically applied before or after repeated applications of negative pressure.
