摘要: An occlusion clearing device for a patient has a housing with a motor(s) that generates repetitive motion, which is reciprocating, rotational or both. A clearing stem including a sheath that has a lumen, wherein aspiration is conducted through the sheath lumen. A wire is located in the sheath lumen and receives repetitive motion from the controller. The sheath terminates in a sheath end having at least one sheath opening. The wire terminates in a wire tip, which may be flat, helical, or tubular. The wire tip is positioned within the sheath end, in proximity to the sheath opening(s), and movement of the wire tip and/or sheath end relative to each other creates shearing forces that break up an adjacent occlusion.

摘要: Dressings for treating a tissue site with negative pressure are disclosed, which may include a dressing having at least three layers assembled in a stacked relationship. In one example embodiment, a first film may comprise a non-porous material and a plurality of fluid restrictions. A first manifold layer may be adjacent to the first film and may comprise a second film of a transparent material having blisters and a manifold area. The first manifold layer may further comprise apertures configured to allow fluid transfer through the second film. A second manifold layer may be adjacent to the first manifold layer and may comprise foam having a contact area that is less than the manifold area of the first manifold layer.

摘要: Provided herein is a wound drain useful in negative pressure wound treatment therapy. The wound drain advantageously includes structural components that prevent the drain from collapsing under negative pressure and from ingesting foreign materials introduced into a wound cavity, such as gauze and sponges, which con obstruct exudate flow through the drain. The wound drain may further comprise a dual lumen configuration such that it advantageously can be used in for positive pressure applications, or for combined negative and positive pressure treatments.

摘要: Devices for treating fistulas may include a cap with a vacuum port, a spacer with a lumen therethrough, a first distal anchor, and a second distal anchor. The devices may be configured to transmit negative pressure through the vacuum port, the spacer lumen, and an opening in the first distal anchor to releasably seal the first and second distal anchors to tissue, thereby securing the devices in place. The first distal anchor may also include a plurality of openings that form vacuum pathways that transmit the negative pressure. The cap may also include a flush lumen, which may allow flushing of a fistula tract without removal of the device. Methods of treating fistulas may include applying negative pressure to a fistula treatment device to anchor the device and flushing a tract of the fistula using a flushing fluid with the fistula treatment device in-situ.

摘要: In one example embodiment, an apparatus for treating a tissue site may include a contact layer formed from a compressible material. The contact layer may include a plurality of apertures extending at least partially through the contact layer. The contact layer may be configurable such that at least a portion of the apertures include a first plurality of orifices having a diameter in a first diameter range and such that at least a portion of the apertures include a second plurality of orifices having a diameter in a second diameter range. The first diameter range may be from about 2 mm to about 6 mm. The second diameter range may be from about 8 mm to about 15 mm. The apparatus may include a cover configured to form a sealed space including the contact layer and the tissue site.

摘要: A suctioning and irrigating sinus balloon catheter is provided for treating a patient's paranasal sinus system, including dilating prepared openings, and natural ostia and ducts and excising sinus cavities and choana. The catheter has a number of fluid carrying conduits to provide irrigation, suction and inflation/deflation to the distally mounted balloon. The catheters have sufficient stiffness and column strength that the balloon carrying distal segment of the catheter can be pushed into the prepared opening, natural ostium or duct, choana or sinus to be excised. Some catheters can be hand bendable by the surgeon. Some catheters provide the capability of threading an endoscope through one of the conduits. The methods use the balloon catheters to dilate prepared openings to selected parts of the sinus system, to dilate natural ostia and ducts of the sinus system, choana, and/or to dilate sinus cavities to remove them.

摘要: A surgical access device for facilitating access through an incision to a surgical site in a patient's body has a pliable membrane which is configured to engage and expand the incision. The pliable membrane includes a base layer, a permeable membrane attached to the base layer, and a fluid channel disposed between the layers. The fluid channel is fluidly coupled to a fluid source. The fluid is delivered to the surgical site via the permeable membrane. The surgical access device may also have a locking mechanism for holding the device in a desired configuration.
