Abstract: A method for constructing an elevator into a destination location from a plurality of prefabricated elevator modules includes fabricating a plurality of elevator modules, in particular at a location apart from said destination location. The fabricating includes providing one or more module frames having a longitudinal axis; positioning one or more of the module frames in horizontally oriented position, wherein in the horizontally oriented position the longitudinal axis is horizontal; and while the one or more module frames are in the horizontal position, performing installation work on said one or more module frames. The method includes arranging the modules into the destination location on top of each other such that said modules are in a vertically oriented position.

Abstract: A method for ensuring elevator safety in an elevator system, an elevator control unit, an elevator system, and a computer program product are disclosed in this document. The method comprises detecting a foreign object in an elevator shaft during normal operation mode, establishing a safe zone of the elevator shaft, wherein the safe zone is associated with a safe zone speed, a safe distance, and a safe direction, switching operational mode of the elevator system to a safe zone mode, determining that the elevator car is in the safe zone, and allowing movement of the elevator car in the safe zone to the safe direction at a speed not exceeding the safe zone speed.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method of constructing an elevator comprising providing an elevator car in a hoistway, said elevator car comprising a cabin frame, and a temporary pulley beam detachably mounted on the cabin frame; mounting a hoisting machine in a first position which first position is at a first vertical level in the hoistway; suspending (first suspending) the elevator car with a hoisting roping from the hoisting machine via said temporary pulley beam; moving the elevator car in the hoistway with the hoisting machine while it is in said first position and suspended by the roping via said temporary pulley beam; mounting a hoisting machine in a second position which second position is at a second higher vertical level inside a machine room located above the hoistway; removing the temporary pulley beam from the elevator car, comprising detaching the temporary pulley beam from the cabin frame; suspending the car with a hoisting roping from the hoisting machine mounted in said second position via said cabin frame without said temporary pulley beam; moving the elevator car in the hoistway with the hoisting machine while it is in said second position and the car is suspended via said cabin frame without said temporary pulley beam. The invention also relates to an elevator arrangement for implementing the method.

Abstract: The self-climbing elevator machine room comprises two decks positioned upon each other. Each deck comprises guide means supporting the deck movably on guide rails and locking means locking and unlocking the deck to the guide rails and/or to guide rail fixing means. Lifting means move the two decks along the guide rails in relation to each other. At least one power source provides power to the lifting means. The elevator machine room climbs stepwise along the guide rails by alternatingly locking and unlocking the lower deck and the upper deck to the guide rails and/or to the guide rail fixing means and thereafter raising the unlocked deck.
