摘要： The invention relates to a method for constructing an elevator comprising installing comprising installing an elevator car, a counterweight, one or more vertically oriented guide rail lines, a hoisting machine in a first position, and a first hoisting roping for being moved by the hoisting machine, said installing further comprising connecting the first hoisting roping to the elevator car and counterweight; and thereafter transporting passengers and/or goods with the elevator car vertically in the hoistway while the hoisting machine is in said first position; and thereafter stopping said transporting; and thereafter removing said hoisting machine from said first position and the first roping from the hoistway, said removing comprising disconnecting the first hoisting roping from the elevator car and counterweight; wherein the method further comprises installing a hoisting machine in a second position which is higher than the first position, and a second roping for being moved by the hoisting machine, said installing comprising, connecting the second hoisting roping to the elevator car and counterweight; and thereafter transporting passengers and/or goods with the elevator car vertically in the hoistway while the hoisting machine is in said second position, said transporting comprising moving the elevator car with the hoisting machine and the second hoisting roping.

摘要： A method of manufacturing an elevator includes installing a movable supporting platform and an elevator car in the elevator hoistway; taking the elevator car into use to serve passengers and/or to transport goods; removing the elevator car from use; changing the service range of the elevator car to reach higher up in the elevator hoistway by lifting the supporting platform higher up in the elevator hoistway; and taking the elevator car back into use. The elevator is reeved to include construction-time hoisting roping, which includes one or more ropes, the longitudinal power transmission capacity of which is based at least essentially on non-metallic fibers in the longitudinal direction of the rope. In the method, guide rails to be fixed with guide rail brackets can additionally be installed by the aid of an installation device. An elevator arrangement can be used to perform the method.

The first and the second roping portions are successive portions of a roping passing unbroken via a locking arrangement provided at the second elevator unit, the locking arrangement locking the roping to the second elevator unit between the first and the second portions. In a method in constructing an elevator, the locking arrangement is unlocked and thereafter the roping is repositioned with respect to the locking arrangement and thereafter the locking arrangement is relocked.

The arrangement comprises at least a braking device for braking the rope being supplied to the speed limiter. As new rope is being fed to the speed limiter, the new rope has been fitted to run via the braking device and under a diverting pulley in the lower part of the elevator shaft and passed further from the diverting pulley over an upper speed limiter pulley to act on the safety gear of the elevator.
