    摘要: A switchable two and three dimensional display (2D/3D display) suitable for being viewed by a user is provided. The 2D/3D display includes a liquid crystal display (LCD) panel and a switchable barrier. The LCD panel has a display area, a non-display area surrounding the display area, and a first black matrix extending from the display area to the non-display area. The first black matrix has a number of openings arranged in array and merely distributed within the display area. The switchable barrier has a 3D image control area, a non-display area surrounding the 3D image control area, and a second black matrix merely disposed within the non-display area. The second black matrix surrounds the 3D image control area. An area occupied by the 3D image control area is different from an area occupied by the display area.

A stereo display apparatus is provided, wherein the stereo display apparatus provides N view zones for a viewer and includes a periodic structure and a pixel plane. N view zones are divided in a space according to the N value. Projection areas corresponding to each of the view zones are formed on the pixel plane by the periodic structure, wherein each of the projection areas corresponds to at least one sub-pixel unit on the pixel plane. Image information of each view zone is obtained according to the corresponding sub-pixel units. A stereo image is displayed by blending image information of each view zone.

The composite optical film includes a quarter wave plate and at least one optical film located between the LCD panel and the quarter wave plate. The phase retarder has a plurality of phase retardation patterns separated from one another, and phase retardation of each phase retardation pattern is λ/2. The adhesive layer is disposed between the composite optical film and the phase retarder, and the phase retarder adheres to the quarter wave plate through the adhesive layer.
