Abstract: In aspects of acknowledgement options for downlink multi-user transmission, a wireless network system includes an access point that can communicate a downlink multi-user transmission soliciting acknowledgement from one or more station devices. The access point can receive an association request or an operation mode change request frame from one or more of the station devices, and determine an acknowledgement option for each of the station devices that communicate the request to the access point. The access point can then use a multi-user transmission mode or a single user transmission mode for each of the station devices based on the acknowledgement option determined for each of the respective station devices.

Abstract: A wireless device including a metric generating module and a parameter selecting module. The metric generating module is configured to generate a first metric based on (i) a number of frames retransmitted over a first time period, and (ii) a total number of frames transmitted over the first time period. The metric generating module is configured to generate a second metric based on (i) a number of frames received more than once over a second time period, and (ii) a total number of frames received over the second time period. The parameter selecting module is configured to select one or more transmission parameters to transmit data based on one or more of the first metric and the second metric.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for transmitting high efficiency signals. The method includes creating a first signal and a second signal each comprising a plurality of information fields. The method includes determining respective intervals for repeated transmissions of each of the first signal and the second signal. The method includes determining whether a first transmission of the repeated transmissions of the first signal will be consecutively followed by a second transmission of the repeated transmissions of the second signal. The method includes adding scheduling information, based in part on determining the first transmission will be consecutively followed by the second transmission, indicating that the first transmission will be consecutively followed by the second transmission.

Abstract: A first communication device in a wireless local area network (WLAN) determines one or more frequency division, full duplex (FDFD) parameters for an FDFD operation that includes FDFD communications via a first frequency segment and a second frequency segment. The first frequency segment and the second frequency segment are separated by a gap in frequency. The one or more FDFD parameters include a parameter indicating a duration of the FDFD operation. The first communication device generates a communication frame that includes one or more indications of the one or more FDFD parameters. The one or more indications in the communication frame include an indication of the duration of the FDFD operation. The first communication device transmits the communication frame to prompt a plurality of second communication devices to participate in the FDFD operation.

Abstract: A method for accessing a shared medium includes receiving, at a first device associated with a first basic service set (BSS), a packet from a second device associated with a second BSS. The packet includes an indication of a duration for which the shared medium is expected to be busy. The method includes setting, at the first device, a first counter for an inter-BSS channel access to the duration in response to the second BSS being different than the first BSS and in response to the duration being greater than a current value of the first counter. The method includes setting, at the first device, a second counter for an intra-BSS channel access to the duration in response to the second BSS being the same as the first BSS and irrespective of whether the duration indicated in the packet is greater than a current value of the second counter.

Abstract: A first communication device generates a beamforming training initiator packet for transmission in the wireless communication network, the beamforming training initiator packet including i) information indicating a start of a beamforming training session, and ii) respective identifiers of multiple second communication devices that are to process beamforming training packets transmitted by the first communication device during the beamforming training session. The first communication device transmits the beamforming training initiator packet, and after transmitting the beamforming training initiator packet, transmits a plurality of beamforming training packets during the beamforming training session.

Abstract: The present disclosure includes systems and techniques relating to controlling access to a shared communication medium in a wireless communication system. In some implementations, a first communication device associated with a first basic service set (BSS) identified by a first BSS indicator receives a data unit transmitted by a second communication device. The data unit includes (i) a second BSS indicator indicating a second BSS associated with the second communication device and (ii) a duration indicator indicating a duration of time for which the shared communication medium is expected to be busy. An inter-BSS channel access counter is set based on the duration of time indicated by the duration indicator if the second BSS is different from the first BSS. An intra-BSS channel access counter is set based on the duration of time indicated by the duration indicator if the second BSS is the same as the first BSS.

Abstract: A first communication device maintains respective spatial reuse information for respective pairs of second communication devices, the respective spatial reuse information for determining whether the first communication device can simultaneously transmit during respective transmissions between the respective pairs of second communication devices. The first communication device determines whether the first communication device can transmit a spatial reuse transmission to a third communication device simultaneously with one or more ongoing transmissions between one or more pairs of second communication devices using the spatial reuse information. Responsive to determining that the first communication device can transmit the spatial reuse transmission, the first communication device transmits a packet to the third communication device simultaneously with the one or more ongoing transmissions between one or more pairs of second communication devices.

Abstract: In a method for determining whether a communication device can transmit via a first communication channel, the communication device receives a packet via a second communication channel and sets a network allocation vector (NAV) timer corresponding to the second communication channel using duration information included in the header of the packet. The communication device determines whether the second communication channel overlaps in frequency with a first communication channel. If the second communication channel overlaps the first communication channel, the communication device is not permitted to transmit via the first communication channel when the NAV timer is not zero. If the second communication channel does not overlap the first communication channel, the communication device is permitted to transmit via the second communication channel even when the NAV timer is not zero.

Abstract: Systems and techniques relating to partial AID length change notification include: transmitting, to one or more wireless devices within a wireless communication system, a first frame including an indication of a partial association identifier (AID) length and an indication of a target time at which the one or more wireless devices within the wireless communication system will utilize the indicated partial AID length; and transmitting, to the one or more wireless devices within a wireless communication system, one or more additional frames before the target time is reached, where each of the one or more additional frames include the indication of the partial AID length and the indication of the target time.
