摘要: A spring holder 25 containing coiled springs 41 is installed in a female housing 11. When a male housing 1 and this female housing 11 are fitted together, a locking arm 20 rises over a stopping protrusion 7, a restraining wall 39 simultaneously engages a locking claw 22, and the coiled springs are compressed. The locking claw 22 makes contact with a contacting face of the restraining wall 39, this contacting face being a tapered face 40. When the locking arm 20 is about to pass over the stopping protrusion 7 to return to its original position, the restraining wall 39 receives a spring force F from the coiled springs and pushes the locking arm 20. A component force F1 in a returning direction of the locking arm 20 is obtained from this spring force F due to the tapered face 40. The component force F1 and the returning force of the locking arm 20 itself cause the locking arm 20 to return smoothly, and the locking arm 20 thus engages with the stopping protrusion 7.

摘要: An electrical connector assembly includes two connector housings. One of the housings has a locking arm engageable with the other housing in the fully fitted condition. A spring member urges the housings apart unless in the fully fitted state. The locking arm is deflected to compress the spring member during fitting. In the fully fitted state the locking arm moves to an undeflected condition and the spring member consequently adopts a position which blocks further movement of the locking arm to the deflected state, thereby latching the connector housings with certainty against forcible separation on the engagement axis.

摘要: An electrical connector has male and female housings 10, 30 having terminal retainers 20, 40 and retainer insertion holes 16, 36. To prevent creep of moisture by surface tension effects through the clearance between the terminal retainers 20, 40 and the retainer fitting holes 16, 36, the retainer is formed with a C-shaped recess 23, 43, and the retainer and hole are formed with matching cranked portions 19, 24, 39, 44. A central drain channel 15, 35 runs through the center of each housing 10, 30 and is sealed by means of mutually fitting tapered faces 26A, 46A. Overhanging hoods 14a, 14d shield the mating faces and rear ends of the connector housings. Mating terminal chambers 11, 31 also have tapered sealing faces 28, 48. A peripheral rib 45 on one housing 30 fits into a groove 25 on the housing with a long narrow clearance to prevent moisture creep. Drain channels 15, 35 engage one another at tapered mating faces 26A, 36A. The terminal retainer 20, 40 moisture creep prevention features are designed to direct the moisture into the drain channels 15, 35. A rear hood is also used to shield the open rear ends of the terminal apertures.

摘要: A connector comprises a female connector housing having a flexibly deformable lock arm, a male connector housing having a lock portion elastically engageable with the lock arm when the two connector housings are completely engaged with each other, and a lock holding member rotatably mounted at an end of the lock arm. The lock holding member is selectively movable between an unlock position to allow the lock arm to be flexed in an unlocking direction thereof and a lock position to inhibit the lock arm to be flexed in the unlocking direction. In the complete engagement state, if a lock holding member in the end of the lock arm is rotated from an unlock position to a lock position, then the lock arm is prevented from being deformed flexibly to thereby be able to keep on the locking state of the connector. On the other hand, when the female and male connector housings are in incomplete engagement with each other, the lock arm is on the way to its flexible deformation. In this state, since the lock holding member is unable to advance into the flexing side of the lock arm, an operator can know that the female and male connector housings are in incomplete engagement with each other, in accordance with the fact that the lock holding member cannot be shifted to the lock position.

摘要: A terminal fitting includes a terminal connection part and a crimping part. Paired front-side crimping pieces and a lower plate part constitute a wire barrel portion which contacts core wires exposed outside as a result of removal of coating disposed at an end portion of an electric wire and is crimped so as to surround the core wires. Paired rear-side crimping pieces and the lower plate part constitute an insulation barrel portion which contacts coating at the end portion of the electric wire and is crimped so as to surround the coating. At least one pair of the crimping pieces has a thin portion formed thinner than the lower plate part and contacting the electric wire end when the crimping pieces are crimped. The thin portion is formed at an intermediate portion of each crimping piece except for a peripheral portion.

摘要: A front mask (70) can be held at a testing position located before a proper position with respect to a mounting direction of the front mask (70). At this testing position, parts of the front ends of connecting portions (28S) of smaller female terminals (26S) accommodated in smaller cavities (24S) located behind the corresponding smaller cavities (24S) with respect to the mounting direction are exposed in smaller terminal insertion openings (75S), and these smaller terminal insertion openings (75S) are used also as testing openings through which probes (80) for an electrical connection test are inserted. The front mask (70) also is formed with test openings (82) where parts of the front ends of the connecting portions (28S) of the smaller female terminals (26S) accommodated in the frontmost smaller cavities (24S) with respect to the mounting direction are exposed when the front mask (70) is at the testing position.

摘要: A moving plate (30) has a substantially rectangular bottom portion (38) and a surrounding wall (32) projecting from the outer periphery of the bottom portion (38). Shake preventing projections (37) are formed on the opposite outer side surfaces of the surrounding wall (32) including the shorter sides of the bottom portion (38) and extend from an upper edge of the surrounding wall (32) over the entire vertical length. The height of the shake preventing projections (37) exceeds a corresponding clearance dimension between the surrounding wall (32) and a receptacle (11). A lever (20) is used to realize a smooth connecting operation by preventing the moving plate (30) from being inclined while two housings (10, 40) are being connected.

摘要: Grooves (39) are formed in locking projections (38) provided on side surfaces of an auxiliary connector (30), and disengaging projections (27) which can enter the grooves (39) project from locking surfaces (26A) of locking pieces (26) provided on inner side walls of an accommodating portion (12). The locking piece (26) can be disengaged form the corresponding locking projection (38) by pressing an introducing surface (27A) of the disengaging projection (27) in the groove (39) by means of a jig (J) to resiliently deform the locking piece (26). Since the locking pieces (26) can be made smaller than prior art ones, deformation spaces therefor can also be made smaller, which enables the miniaturization of a housing main body (11) or the miniaturization of male and female connectors (50, 10).

摘要: A connector has a housing (20) with a recess (21). A moving plate (50) is located at an initial position in the recess (21) by a resilient restoring force of a spring (40) with a slider (30) held at a returning position in the recess (21). A mating connector moves the moving plate (50) to a connection position in this state and a resilient restoring force is accumulated in the spring (40). If the state of the slider (30) held at the returning position is canceled with the mating connector properly connected and the moving plate (50) at the connection position, the resilient force accumulated in the spring (40) is released as the slider (30) is moved to a releasing position. Thus, the spring (40) is free from permanent set in fatigue.
