    摘要: A novel system and method for a network overlay geolocation system operating in a host wireless communication system with repeaters is disclosed. Embodiments of the novel system and method enable wireless communication system to determine if signals being received by system receivers arrive directly from a target mobile appliance or if the signals are passing through a repeater. The system's determination may be based at least in part on the TA of the signal, the power of the received signal, the power of the transmitted signal, the hearabiltiy of the signal at system receivers, the hearabiltiy of system transmitters at the mobile and the known delays associated with the repeaters. Embodiments of the novel system and method provide a more accurate geolocation of mobiles served by repeater stations than capable in the prior art.

    摘要: A system and method for geolocating a mobile unit from a single base station is described. Communication signals and pilot signal information from a mobile unit are received at a base station with randomly-located antennas. Certain parameters of the signals are detected and a set of real-time, but ambiguous, location measurements is determined. The real-time measurements are compared to reference measurements previously stored in a database, indexed by range and bearing from the base station, to find the best match and thereby the geolocation of the mobile unit. A time history of the mobile unit's position is stored and compared with static information from maps and other geomorphological data to further refine the geolocation of the mobile unit.

    摘要: A system and method supports multiple wireless carrier mobile station location requirements with a common network overlay location system. The common network overlay location system shares geolocation assets such as location measurement units (LMU), geo-location control system (GCS), and, optionally, mobile positioning centers (MPC). The shared location assets are configured to operate with each of the sharing carrier systems. The number of sharing carriers in the same market is not limited. LMUs are configurable and switchable to measure attributes of the transmitted signal from mobile stations belonging to any of the wireless carriers which are used by the common location system to estimate the location of the mobile station using time of arrival, time difference of arrival, angle of arrival, signal power, and combinations of the same. The location of the LMUs are configured to provide an acceptable level of accuracy while minimizing a function such as the need for additional LMUs and cost.
