The slurry filtration device comprises tank that has a slurry supply pipe at its upper part and a filtrate-drain hole at its bottom, a layer of filter sand lying on its bottom, a slurry accumulator arranged on the layer of filter sand, and a vibrator set in said slurry accumulator for vibrating the slurry. The present invention not only improves the solid-liquid separability remarkably but also saves cost and space.

The wet-gas desulfurizing apparatus according to this invention removes the oxides of sulfur, such as SO2, from combustion exhaust gas by scrubbing the combustion exhaust with an absorption liquid which contains an alkali. It includes: 1) a branch pipe to circulate the absorption liquid which is inserted into a collection tank, of which the end discharges the absorption liquid into the collection tank, and the branch pipe having an internal diameter of D; and 2) an air-blowing pipe in inject air into the branch pipe, of which the end is inserted at an insertion point located between 3 D and 10 D from the discharge end of the branch pipe. The end of the air-blowing pipe is inserted into the branch pipe, and has an appearance of a semicircular trough facing downstream toward the collection tank.

This invention provides a flue gas treating process for removing sulfur oxides and dust from exhaust gas containing sulfur oxides and dust by using an absorption tower into which an absorbing fluid containing an alkaline agent is sprayed, comprising the steps of equipping the absorption tower with integrally formed dust collection means comprising dust collecting plates and discharge electrodes, and with dust separation means for sweeping off the dust collected by the dust collection means; and treating the exhaust gas in the dust collection means and subsequently cleaning the exhaust gas in the absorption tower, whereby desulfurization and dust removal are effected while sweeping off the collected dust by the dust separation means. Thus, desulfurization and dust removal can be effected in a simple manner, and the capacity of an electrostatic precipitator installed on the upstream side can be reduced.

The present invention is concerned with a method for desulfurizing smoke which includes an absorbing procedure of cleaning a combustion exhaust gas with a limestone slurry; an oxidizing procedure of blowing air into the slurry coming from the absorbing process to oxidize calcium sulfite in the slurry to gypsum; a circulating process of circulating, through the absorbing procedure, the slurry coming from the oxidizing procedure; and a separating procedure of drawing a part of the slurry from the circulating procedure, separating and recovering gypsum therefrom, and returning the remaining slurry to the circulating system. The method is characterized in that a separator for separating the fed slurry into an over flow and an under flow is used, and the fed slurry is irradiated with ultrasonic waves to accelerate the separation of gypsum particles from limestone particles, whereby the limestone particles and the gypsum particles are transferred to the over flow and the under flow, respectively.
