摘要： An antenna is provided for use with a memory (MIC) incorporated in a recording medium that stores management data. The antenna is located at a position to read data signals from the memory before the recording medium inserted through an insertion port is completely transported to the transport mechanism of a drive. Thus, a recording/playback apparatus and a data library can be provided, which can use a large amount of information to manage the recording medium as management data before the recording medium is inserted into the drive.

摘要： A chip-type electronic component is provided in which generation of cracks in a glass coating layer and degradation of the insulating resistance in the ceramic body is unlikely to occur. In addition, a manufacturing method therefor is also provided. In the glass coating layer described above, the ratio of the alkali metal content to the silicon content is gradually increased from the vicinity of the glass coating layer to the inside thereof. The component is formed by forming a glass coating layer on surfaces of the component, in which the ratio of the alkali metal to the silicon in the glass coating layer is 0.3 or more; and a subsequent step of dipping the component provided with the glass coating layer in an acidic aqueous solution.

摘要： A changer apparatus capable of providing security protection. Tape cassettes are selected from a plurality of compartments constituting a cassette rack, and are loaded into drives (102-1) through (102-P) which write and read data to and from the cassettes. A nonvolatile memory (114) stores information about security protection locked on elements such as the compartments of the medium rack and the drives. When security protection is to be locked, a controller (110) admits an externally input security protection locking command, and writes accordingly to the memory (114) security protection information representing, for example, host IDs, password numbers, security levels, and a group of elements of which security is to be protected. When security protection is to be unlocked, the controller (110) admits an externally input security protection unlocking command, and erases the security protection information accordingly from the memory (114). When executing a command from a host computer, the controller (110) references the security protection information in the memory (114) for control over command execution, whereby security protection is ensured.

摘要： A pattern position detecting apparatus has an ITV camera for receiving the image of a pattern of the IC chip and a memory for storing therein the image signal from the ITV camera as a pattern data. When the pattern data is read out from the memory, a pattern section is shifted every second picture-element array in the horizontal and vertical directions and the picture elements are picked up every second picture element from the pattern section. The pattern data corresponding to the pattern sections read out from the memory are compared with reference pattern data, whereby determination is made of the degree of coincidence between both of the patterns. After determination has been made of the degrees of coincidence with respect to the whole pattern, detection is made of the position of the pattern section having the highest degree of coincidence among said degrees of coincidence in accordance with the address of the memory.
