In this way, an antenna device suitable for use in a broad variety of applications is provided which allows easy modification of its antenna characteristics by adjusting the angle between the reflective surfaces and/or the angular position of the reflector member (48, 70, 72) with respect to the substrate board (10).

The device for the downconversion and demodulation of a modulated RF signal does not comprise a mixing stage. The RF signal to be downconverted is supplied to a linear two-port device having a single power sensor connected to the output of the two-port device. The two-port device comprises a three-port junction having two inputs and one output connected to the power sensor. One input of the three-port junction is supplied to the RF signal and the other input of the three-port junction is supplied (without switching) with a further RF signal originating either from a local oscillator or with a signal derived from the RF signal to be downconverted.     摘要: A technique for calibrating a N-port receiver, such as for example a 5- or 6-port receiver is proposed. The N-port receiver (1) comprises a first input (2) for a RF signal to be detected, a second input (3) for a RF signal originating from a local oscillator (4) and N−2 output terminals. Calibrating signals are generated on the basis of the RF signal supplied by the local oscillator (4). The calibration signals are fed to the first input (2) and/or the second input (3) of the N-port receiver (1). Calibration coefficients are calculated on the basis of the output signals generated by the N-port receiver (1) in response to the feeding of the calibration signals. The calibration signals are unmodulated signals and are only processed by means of a passive RF circuitry in the calibration device (100). The solutions according to the present invention allow a simple calibration of N-port receivers, which can be used as IQ demodulators or converters. Thereby a local oscillator (4) is used as a RF source for the calibration.

The receiver comprises a power divider (4) to divide a modulated RF input signal in at least two branches. At least one delay line (5, 6) provides for a delay of the branches relatively to each other by a predetermined delay constant. A calculation circuit (7, 8) calculates at least three power levels based on combinations (12, 13, 14) of the two branches of the input signal relatively delayed (5, 6) to each other. A processing means (10) calculates the phase and the amplitude of a complex signal representing the relation between the two branches of the input signal relatively delayed to each other, on the basis of the said at least three power levels (8). The invention therefore provides for a direct 6-port receiver based on non-coherent detection. The concept of the invention is inherently cheap and features high integration ability and low-cost processes. Ideally the whole RF front end can be placed on one chip.
