An operation information storage device is formed in a file format which can be accessed by a file access command of the operating system on the HOST system and the HOST system reads the operation information of the storage devices stored in the operation information file according to the file access command. The information to control the operation of the storage devices is written in the operation information file according to the file access command. The disk manager controls the operation of the storage devices according to the operation information of the operation information file.

For the high-speed data access machine, data is distributed in a plurality of hard disk drives coupled to slave processors to achieve ever-higher data reliability and maintenance. One master processor is provided with a plurality of slave processors, each of which is coupled to two hard disk drives containing the same data. A synchronous signal permits two hard disk drives to operate in synchronous rotation in half-a-turn phase difference from each other. The hard disk controller writes the same data in both hard disk drives but reads data from whichever hard disk drive requires less access time to obtain the data. A plurality of hard disk drives holding exactly the same data improves data reliability. Also, by rotating a plurality of hard disk drives in different phase, the rotational delay in data access is cut by half.

A closed region enclosed by the border line is subjected to a linearizing process. Shape-defining line data is produced for the closed region and stitch data for entirely covering the closed region with zigzag stitches when the closed region can completely be linearized by a number of sequential pixel deleting cycles not greater than a given number. Border line data is produced and stitch data for entirely covering the closed region with satin stitches is automatically produced when the closed region could not be completely linearized by the number of sequential pixel deleting cycles within the given number. Thus, stitch data for satisfactorily embroidering a pattern consisting of a plurality of partial patterns respectively having different widths can be readily and automatically produced from the original picture of the pattern.

The intermediate embroidery data are enlarged or reduced at a magnifying power corresponding to each desired pattern size and embroidery seam data are obtained for each desired pattern size on the basis of the enlarged or reduced intermediate embroidery data to thereby collectively prepare the embroidery seam data for the plurality of different pattern sizes.

Subsequently, the step of initially processing the initial original image of the original is performed by forming one or more readable images in the inside area of one or more current regions out of the one or more outline-bounded regions. A next step includes reading, by the image reader, the initially processed original image so as to produce initially processed image data defining the initially processed original image. A final step identifies the initially processed region based on a difference of the initial image data and the initially processed image data.
