    Abstract: The disclosed technology is directed to an insertion apparatus comprises an insertion portion that includes a tubular body freely rotates around a longitudinal axis over an outer circumferential surface. The insertion portion is flexible and configured to be inserted into a body cavity. The insertion portion and a drive source configured to rotate the tubular body wherein the tubular body includes a first flexural rigidity. A part of the insertion portion includes a second flexural rigidity. The tubular body is mounted to the part. The tubular body and the part of the insertion portion includes a total flexural rigidity based on the first flexural rigidity and the second flexural rigidity so that bending of the tubular body is limited to a predetermined bending angle to avoid stop of rotation of the tubular body.

    Abstract: An insertion apparatus includes: a flexible tube; an electric driving source arranged on a proximal end side of the flexible tube; a driven portion arranged on a distal end of the flexible tube; and a single driving force transmitting member inserted in the flexible tube and formed by being wound in a coil shape. For the driving force transmitting member, first torsional rigidity in a first rotating state of being rotated in a direction of being wound in the coil shape is set higher than second torsional rigidity in a second rotating state of being rotated in an opposite direction; and the driven portion performs a first motion by the first rotating state and performs a second motion requiring a larger amount of force than the first motion by the second rotating state.

    Abstract: An insertion device includes a UD knob having an outer peripheral side notched in a concave recess with such a curvature and a size as to come in close contact with a base part of a thumb, and an RL knob placed on the UD knob with the same center of rotation, and is configured such that the thumb extends beyond the UD knob, the base part of the thumb is put in contact with a deepest part of the recess of the UD knob, and the RL knob is operably present within a movable range of the thumb beyond the UD knob. The RL knob is configured to be driven by a motor, and thereby the RL knob is rotated by a fingertip to bend a bend portion.

    Abstract: An endoscope includes: an operation portion provided on a proximal end side of an insertion portion; one pair of pulling members extending from a bending portion; a pulley rotated by a motor; rotating bodies that are elastically deformable and arranged on the pulley; a suspension frame to which the pulling members are fixed; a manipulator provided to project from the operation portion, the manipulator being capable of applying an amount of force of pulling a part of a pulling member on the insertion portion side using a frictional resistance generated as a result of, upon a tilting operation being performed, the pulling member being pulled to reduce a diameter of the corresponding rotating body and the rotating body being thereby brought into contact with the pulley; and a force amount adjustment section capable of changing the amount of force of pulling by making an adjustment of a friction generation state.
