Abstract: A torque sleeve includes sleeve body configured to extend along an axis. The sleeve body is further configured to at least partially receive a coupling member of a coaxial cable connector. The sleeve body has an outer surface configured to permit a user to tighten the coupling member to an interface port up to a first torque, and the sleeve body includes a pair of opposed cutouts configured to receive a tightening tool so as to permit the tightening tool to grip the coupling member and tighten the coupling member to an interface port up to a second torque, the second torque being greater than the first torque.

Abstract: A cable system component includes a housing having a seal-grasping surface portion and a seal having an elastically deformable tubular body attached to the housing. The body has a posterior sealing surface that cooperatively engages the seal-grasping surface portion of the housing and a forward sealing surface configured to cooperatively engage an interface port. The forward sealing surface includes a radially inner facet divided into a forward portion and a rearward portion by an inner annular groove in the inner facet. The seal includes an anterior portion and a posterior portion connected by a thinned neck portion, the forward portion of the radially inner facet is on the anterior portion, and the rearward portion of the radially inner facet is on the posterior portion. The rearward portion of the radially inner facet includes a sealing edge surface that is configured to cooperate with an outer surface of the interface port in order to provide a sealed connection between the connector and the port when the anterior portion is removed from the seal. The inner annular groove is radially aligned with the neck portion and is configured to keep the neck portion away from the sealing edge of the rearward portion of the radially inner facet when the anterior portion is removed from the seal.

Abstract: A connector includes a body having a cable receiving end configured to receive the end of the coaxial cable, a coupler configured to be coupled with and to rotate relative to the body, and a compression ring including a forward sleeve portion and a rearward outer ring portion attached to one another by a plurality of tabs. The forward sleeve portion is configured to be coupled to the cable receiving end of the body, and the plurality of tabs are configured to shear so as to separate the rearward outer ring portion from the forward sleeve portion when a torque for rotating the compression ring relative to the body exceeds a desired torque. The rearward outer ring includes an inner opening when separated from the forward sleeve portion, the separated rearward outer ring is configured to be slidingly moved relative to the body and the coupler, and the inner opening is configured to fit over the coupler such that the rearward outer ring is configured to be a torque assist member.

Abstract: A coaxial cable connector includes a nut having a seal-grasping surface portion and a seal having an elastically deformable tubular body attached to the nut. The body has a posterior end with a sealing surface that cooperatively engages the seal-grasping surface portion of the nut and an anterior end with a forward sealing surface configured to cooperatively engage an interface port. The nut defines a first through hole extending in the longitudinal direction and configured to receive a center conductor of a coaxial cable. The anterior end of the seal defines a second through hole extending in the longitudinal direction and configured to receive a center conductor of a coaxial cable. A center axis of the first through hole and a center axis of the second through hole are offset from one another such that the anterior end the seal is configured to urge at least the center conductor of the coaxial cable to an off-center position of the second through hole when the nut is coupled with the interface port thereby creating radial interference between the nut and the interface port. The nut is urged to make contact with the interface port whenever mounted thereon, thus maintaining electrical grounding between the nut and the port, even when the nut is loosely coupled with the interface port.

Abstract: A coaxial cable connector includes a body configured to engage a coaxial cable having a conductive electrical grounding property, a post configured to engage the body and the coaxial cable when the connector is installed on the coaxial cable, a nut configured to engage an interface port at a retention force, and a grounding member extending about the nut. The grounding member is configured to increase the retention force between the nut and the interface port so as to maintain an electrical ground connection between the interface port and the nut when the nut is in a loosely tightened position on the interface port.
