摘要: A surgical instrument for cutting and grasping tissue comprising a handle assembly, an elongated member and first and second jaws. A first movable member moves the second jaw in a first direction about a first pivot axis in a grasping action and a second movable member moves the second jaw in a second direction different than the first direction and about a second pivot axis in a cutting action. A switch is positioned at the proximal portion of the instrument and a selecting member is actuated by movement of the switch, the selecting member movable between a first position to enable movement of the second jaw in the first direction and prohibit movement in the second direction and a second position to enable movement of the second jaw in the second direction and prohibit movement in the first direction.

摘要: A bariatric device and method of causing weight loss in a recipient includes providing a bariatric device having an esophageal member, a cardiac member and a connector connected with the esophageal member and the cardiac member. The esophageal member has an esophageal surface that is configured to generally conform to the shape and size of a portion of the esophagus. The cardiac member has a cardiac surface that is configured to generally conform to the shape and size of a portion of the cardiac portion of the stomach. The esophageal surface is positioned at the esophagus. The cardiac surface is positioned at the cardiac portion of the stomach. The bariatric device stimulates receptors in order to influence a neurohormonal mechanism in the recipient.

摘要: A device fixation tool and method of fixation of a medical device within a hollow organ or cavity through a natural orifice includes providing a needle driver and a shaft. The needle driver is adapted for use with at least one needle. At least a portion of the needle driver is positioned with the shaft at a hollow organ or cavity through the natural orifice. Sufficient force is transmitted with the needle driver to the at least one needle to penetrate mammalian tissue and a portion of the medical device.

摘要: A surgical portal and introducer assembly includes an introducer dimensioned for at least partial positioning within a tissue tract, and having a longitudinal introducer channel extending therethrough and a portal positionable within the longitudinal channel of the introducer. The introducer defines leading and trailing ends, and further has a frangible segment adapted to separate to expose the introducer channel. The portal has at least one longitudinal port for passage of a surgical object. The portal comprises a compressible material and is adapted to transition from a first expanded condition to a second compressed condition upon advancement through the longitudinal channel of the introducer to facilitate passage through the introducer whereby, upon separating of the frangible segment, the portal is released from the longitudinal channel to transition toward the first expanded condition to be generally secured within the tissue tract.
