Abstract: A surgical staple cartridge is disclosed comprising a plurality of staples removably stored within the surgical staple cartridge. The staples comprise staple legs which extend from a staple base portion. The staple legs comprise staple tips configured to pierce tissue and contact a corresponding forming pocket of an anvil of surgical stapling instrument. The staples further comprise zones having different hardnesses.

Abstract: Methods for tissue repairs with mattress stitch are disclosed. A mattress stitch is created with a suturing construct that includes one or more soft-body anchors and a flexible strand attached to the soft-body anchors. A free, tensionable end of the flexible strand is removably attached to a suture passer and passed through the tissue. The free end is then passed through the soft-body anchors to form a knotless, continuous, uninterrupted, flexible, adjustable, self-locking, tensionable loop around and through the tissue.

Abstract: Devices, systems and/or methods for repairing soft tissue adjacent a soft tissue repair site. In one embodiment, a repair device configured to couple to soft tissue is provided. The repair device includes a capture portion and an anchor portion. The capture portion configured to extend with radial portions. The anchor portion includes a base with multiple legs extending therefrom. The multiple legs are configured to move from a linear position to a formed position such that, in the formed position, the multiple legs couple to structure of the capture portion.

Abstract: An internal brace device includes a fixed loop and first and second strands extending from the fixed loop. Each strand forms an adjustable loop, reverses back toward the fixed loop, and passes through a self-cinching section wherein tag ends of the first and second strands may be pulled in a direction away from the adjustable loops to tighten the adjustable loops. A first anchor may be disposed on the fixed loop, and a second anchor may be disposed on the adjustable loops or on a free loop disposed on the adjustable loops. The internal brace is configured to be tightened between the first and second anchors for mechanically bracing a joint. Each anchor may include a rigid anchor or a soft anchor in various embodiments.

Abstract: A medical device includes a surgical needle, an elongated suture, and an intervening segment. The elongated suture has a first end proximate to the needle and a second end located away from the needle. The elongated suture also includes a plurality of fibers defining a mesh wall between the first and second ends. A plurality of pores extend through the mesh wall, at least some which are in the macroporous size range of greater than 200 microns for facilitating tissue integration when introduced into a body. The intervening segment is disposed between and connected to either or both ends of the elongated suture and the needle. The intervening segment includes one or more fibers of the plurality of fibers and has a cross-sectional dimension smaller than a cross-sectional dimension of the mesh wall such that the intervening segment facilitates indirect attachment of the elongated macroporous mesh suture to the needle.

Abstract: Systems are provided for securing tissue to bone. A suture anchor can include an elongate body having a proximal end and a distal end and an external surface with a plurality of longitudinally spaced bone-engaging features formed at least partially circumferentially thereon over at least a portion of a length of the suture anchor. The proximal end can have a lumen extending at least partially into the elongate body and the distal end can have a suture engaging feature proximate thereto. A first series of bone-engaging features can have a dimension that increases from a distal to a proximal end of each bone-engaging feature of the first series of bone-engaging features. A second series of bone-engaging features can have a dimension that decreases from a distal to a proximal end of each bone-engaging feature of the second series of bone-engaging features.

Abstract: Surgical devices and related methods for use with sutures are generally described. In some embodiments, a surgical device may include an elongated body and a plurality of through holes configured to allow a suture to pass through the plate across opposing edges of a defect site. The plate may shield neighboring tissue from tension in the suture line by re¬distributing the tension along its body. In some embodiments, the disclosed surgical devices may reduce the likelihood of defect closure failure caused by the suture pulling through a tissue defect. In some embodiments, the through holes may be located on offset parallel axes to reduce excessive suture friction and suture mismanagement. The disclosed surgical devices may be used with either interrupted or continuous suture patterns.
