Abstract:
A method for cell reselection for a mobile communication device includes: selecting a best neighbor cell of a currently serving cell for a first subscription; starting a reselection timer; performing a plurality of signal measurements on the best neighbor cell; determining if a time period indicated by the reselection timer is expired; in response to a determination that the time period is expired, determining if a second subscription is engaged in an activity having higher priority than cell reselection; and in response to a determination that the second subscription is engaged in the activity having higher priority than cell reselection, inhibiting cell reselection on the first subscription.
Abstract:
A method for wireless communication by a wireless communication device is described. The wireless communication device determines that the wireless communication device is in a limited service state. The wireless communication device camps on an available cell in response to the limited service state determination. The wireless communication device monitors a synchronization channel from the available cell at a reduced rate than a rate used for a full service state.
Abstract:
A method for managing radio access technology services includes: reacquiring control of a radio frequency (RF) chain of a mobile communication device by a first subscription; performing a search for a base station serving a cell in which the mobile communication device is currently located; decoding only a Frequency Control Channel (FCCH) and a Synchronization Channel (SCH) transmitted by the base station; comparing a decoded Base Station Identity Code (BSIC) with a stored BSIC of a last serving cell on which a packet switched (PS) context for a data call on the first subscription was suspended or on which idle mode operations were last performed on the first subscription; and if the decoded BSIC matches the stored BSIC, resuming the data call on the first subscription on the last serving cell.
Abstract:
A method for responding to a communication event by a wireless communication device is described. The method includes beginning a cell reselection procedure. The method also includes detecting a communication event. The method further includes obtaining at least one system information message required to respond to the communication event. The method additionally includes responding to the communication event before all system information messages are obtained.

Abstract:
Real-time Short Message Service (SMS) messaging between an originating device such as a mobile device or Short Message Entity (SME) and a destination device such as a mobile device or SME. The real-time SMS messaging may be provided by initiating a call session between the originating device and the destination device, sending the SMS message within the call session, and terminating the call session prior to establishment of dedicated call traffic resources. In some embodiments, existing mobile protocol stacks may be employed by using existing voice call setup procedures to initiate the call session before sending the SMS message. In some embodiments, call session protocol stacks are extended to provide for an indication of a real-time SMS session type in the call session setup signaling. Real-time SMS messaging may be offered as a value added service, according to various embodiments. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.
