摘要： A spinal fixation system includes a rod and anchor devices that include a bone engaging fastener having a head defining a spherical socket. A ball insert is placed within the socket and rotated so that the ball insert is juxtaposed with the socket. The anchor device further includes a yoke defining a yoke channel for receiving the rod and a stem engaged to the ball insert captured within the socket. A sleeve disposed between the yoke channel and the fastener head supports the rod. A set screw is operable to clamp the rod against the sleeve and draw the insert into engagement within the socket. A friction element in the form of a wave spring is disposed between the yoke and the fastener head is configured to releasably retain the yoke in at least one discrete position relative to the fastener.

摘要： A locking fastener for use with a bone plate. The fastener has threads on its shank to engage bone and threads on its head to engage the internal threads of the bone plate. The threads in the head may have a constant major diameter and a tapered minor diameter that creates a radial interference fit. The threads in the head may also have a variable pitch that creates an axial interference fit. The head may have a low profile to reduce soft tissue irritation.

摘要： An external skeletal fixation apparatus provides support about a joint such as the knee. The apparatus includes a first external support section with one or more rings rigidly supporting a first skeletal element (e.g., the femur) on one side of the joint and a second external support section, with two or more rings, rigidly supporting a second skeletal element (e.g., the tibia) on an opposite side of the joint. The apparatus further includes a hinged support section interconnecting the first and second external support sections in the vicinity of the joint such that the hinged support section pivots the joint about a generally lateral axis when the skeletal elements move through angular flexion or extension. The second external support section includes at least a first support ring element and a second support ring element rotatably coupled with the first support ring element. The first support ring element is connected with the hinged support section and the second support ring element is positioned to rigidly support the second skeletal element. Accordingly, the second support element rotates relative to the first support element with generally lateral rotation of the second skeletal element relative to the first skeletal element or the joint.

摘要： A method and assembly is provided for linking an additional vertebral construct to an existing spinal construct having at least two bone screws engaged to corresponding vertebrae and connected by a connecting member. The assembly includes a fastener configured to engage a bone screw of the existing construct and to engage a connecting member connected to the bone screw. The assembly further includes a linking member having an elongated portion configured to connect to a bone screw of the additional construct and a mounting structure configured for mounting on the bone screw of the existing construct. A locking member fixes the orientation of the linking member relative to the bone screw and a clamping member locks the linking member and existing connecting member to the bone screw of the existing construct.
