摘要: A clamp assembly for orthopedic use having a housing that includes a top surface, a recess, a distal base and a bottom surface, the recess defining a longitudinal axis and extending through the housing from the top surface through the distal base and toward the bottom surface, and at least two through slots, each one of being disposed at a bottom or a side a surface of the housing. The assembly including a securement assembly positionable within the recess in a co-axial relationship to a mating surface on the recess, and a band sized for travel along a predetermined path defined in part by the through slots in the housing, wherein at least one of the through slots is a starting point for travel of the band along the predetermined path.

摘要: A bone anchoring device includes a receiving part for coupling a rod to a bone anchoring element, the receiving part having a first end, a second end, a recess at the first end for receiving the rod, and a compressible head receiving portion at the second end for accommodating a head of the bone anchoring element, a pressure member positionable in the receiving part to exert pressure on the head, and a clamping ring positionable around the head receiving portion and movable towards the first end of the receiving part to a locking position where the clamping ring exerts force on and compresses the head receiving portion. In the locking position, at least part of the clamping ring that faces the first end of the receiving part is exposed to the outside to facilitate movement of the clamping ring away from the first end of the receiving part.

摘要: A connection device includes a sleeve having a first end, a second end above the first end, a longitudinal axis, and a wall that extends at least partially around the longitudinal axis. An extension member of a bone anchoring device is insertable through the first end into the sleeve to position the sleeve around at least part of the extension member. The wall has an outer surface and defines a laterally extending opening. A surface at a lower end of the opening extends inwardly from the outer surface by a first distance to facilitate insertion of a free end of the extension member from the first end into the opening, while a surface at an upper end of the opening extends inwardly from the outer surface by a distance greater than the first distance to restrict the free end from extending past the upper end of the opening.

摘要: The present disclosure includes a polyaxial bone fixation element for use in spinal fixation to interconnect a longitudinal spinal rod with a patient's vertebra. The polyaxial bone fixation element preferably includes a bone anchor, a collet, a body, and a locking cap. The polyaxial bone fixation element preferably enables in-situ assembly. That is, the polyaxial bone fixation element is preferably configured so that in use, the bone anchor may be secured to the patient's vertebra prior to being received within the body. Accordingly, the polyaxial bone fixation element enables a surgeon to implant the bone anchor without the body to maximize visibility and access around the anchoring site. Once the bone anchor has been secured to the patient's vertebra, the body can be snapped-onto the bone anchor. The bone anchor preferably also includes a second tool interface so that a surgical instrument can be directly coupled to the bone anchor.

摘要: A polyaxial bone anchoring device includes a receiving part with an upper member having a first end, a second end, and a recess at the first end for receiving a rod, and a lower member connectable around the second end of the upper member, and a pressure member positionable in the upper member to exert pressure on a head of a bone anchoring element. The lower member is movable from a first position where the head is pivotable, to a second position closer to the first end of the upper member where an angular position of the head is locked while the recess remains vacant or unobstructed. When the lower member is at the second position, at least part of the lower member is aligned axially with at least part of an end face at the second end of the upper member.

摘要: Disclosed herein is a surgical instrument configured for attachment to a surgical device. The surgical instrument includes a distal region having a curved internal surface configured to mate with a curved external surface of the surgical device, a rotational locking feature that limits rotational movement of the instrument with respect to the surgical device, and an axial locking feature that limits axial movement of the blade with respect to the surgical device. Methods of using the surgical instruments include sliding the axial locking feature past a corresponding axial locking feature on the surgical device, locking the axial locking feature to the corresponding axial locking feature on the surgical device (thereby limiting axial movement of the elongated blade with respect to the surgical device), adjusting the position of the surgical device using the surgical instrument, and disengaging the axial locking feature (for example, by using a disengagement instrument).

摘要: Systems, instruments, and methods for operating a surgical instrument are disclosed. The instrument may include a drive shaft axially aligned with a central axis of the surgical instrument. The drive shaft may include a first mating end and be rotatably supported within a drive housing having a contoured interior supporting the first mating end. The instrument may include an outer shaft having an outer receiver interface configured to selectively couple and uncouple to a connecting portion of a receiver. The instrument may also include a plunger that is axially aligned with the central axis and having a second mating end disposed within the contoured interior of the drive housing. In various embodiments, the second mating end may be axially aligned with and in contact with the first mating end. In various embodiments, the plunger may be configured to linearly translate along the central axis upon rotation of the drive shaft.

摘要: An articulating driver having a ball-in-socket joint. The driver may include a driver tip having a spherical head, a retention cap having a domed surface to mate with the spherical head, an input shaft, a spring disposed in an end of the input shaft and in a recess of the retention cap opposite that of the domed surface, and a housing that receives the input shaft, the spring, the retention cap and the spherical head. The housing may have a tapered end to positionally retain the spherical head therein. In another aspect, the driver may include a driver tip coupled to the input shaft that includes an interface to engage a screw. A bushing may engage the driver tip at one end and receive the screw at the other end to retain the screw within the driver.
