    摘要： One embodiment of the invention is directed to providing a single instance storage capability in a content addressable computer system that stores content units in a time-based directory structure. Another embodiment is directed to managing access to content units that do not include a timestamp in their content addresses, in a time-based directory structure. A further embodiment is directed to accessing replicated content units stored on a computer, based on a time of replication. A further embodiment is directed to employing a bitmap in a time-based directory structure which may be used to indicate whether any content units stored during a specified time range are stored in the directory structure.

When a request to store a content unit is received, it may be determined whether to store the content unit on the primary storage system or the secondary storage system. In another embodiment, a computer may store information relating to an action to be performed in one of the directories of a file system that corresponds to a period of time. When the period of time to which the directory corresponds arrives, the action may be performed. In another embodiment, a content unit stored on a primary storage system may be copied to a secondary storage system in a computer system. After the content unit has been copied, the secondary storage system may send a delete request to the primary storage system to delete the content unit from the primary storage system.

The method comprises acts of intercepting and redirecting an access request from the at least one application program to the first storage volume to the second storage volume. Other embodiments are directed to a computer readable medium with instructions for performing the method, a host computer with at least one controller to intercept and redirect the access request. Other aspects are directed to methods in a computer system including a host computer, a first storage system including a first storage volume, and a second storage system including a second storage volume, wherein the second storage volume is a hardware mirror of the first storage volume. One method comprises an act of servicing a read request to the second storage volume while maintaining the second storage volume as an active hardware mirror of the first storage volume. Another method comprises an act of, in response to a failure preventing access from the host computer to the first storage volume, servicing access requests directed to the first storage volume from the second storage volume without reconfiguring the host computer.

    摘要： A mechanism for handling transaction messages in asynchronous data replication in a database system, in which the database system includes a source node and a target node, and each transaction message has information concerning a row change to a table copy at the source node. The mechanism determines whether a first transaction message has a dependency on a preceding non-completed transaction message.
