摘要： A flow path structure includes a heating element, a barrier layer, a liquid chamber formed by a part of the barrier layer and a pair of walls confronting each other to hold the heating element therebetween and a first individual flow path and a second individual flow path disposed on both the sides of the liquid chamber to communicate with the liquid chamber, a liquid is supplied to the liquid chamber from at least one of first and second individual flow paths, and the distance U between the walls in the liquid chamber and the flow path width W of the first individual flow path are set to satisfy U>W. With this arrangement, a flow path structure can be provided in which a failure in flow paths due to dusts is unlike to occur and which minimizes the influence of bubbles and has almost no uneven ejection.

摘要： In a method and an apparatus for ejecting liquid, the processing accuracy of an ejection unit for ejecting ink can be easily increased and the variations in the volume of ink drops, the ejection angle thereof, etc., can be reduced even when dust is mixed in ink. In addition, a reduction in an ink-supply speed at which ink is supplied to an ink ejection unit can be prevented. An ink ejection apparatus includes a plurality of heating units (13) provided on a base member (11), ink cells for pressurizing ink with energy generated by the heating units (13), and nozzles (17) having ejection holes for ejecting the ink which is pressurized in the ink cells. Each of the nozzles (17) is disposed above each of the heating units (13). In addition, first open sides of the nozzles (17) which face the heating units (13) serve as ink inlets (17b) and second open sides of the nozzles (17) serve as the ejection holes (17a), so that inner spaces of the nozzles (17) serve as the ink cells, the ink cells not being provided separately.

摘要： A printer head chip includes a plurality of ink compressing chambers which include heat-generating resistors and which are disposed side by side on a substrate. The printer head chip is used to discharge ink inside the plurality of ink compressing chambers from a nozzle by driving the heat-generating resistors. The printer head chip further includes an ink flow path groove, which is formed in the substrate and which is connected to each of the ink compressing chambers, for supplying ink to each of the ink compressing chambers. The invention makes it possible to supply ink to the printer head chip without increasing the size of a printer head, and to simplify the structure of the printer head.

摘要： A liquid discharge apparatus has liquid chambers and nozzles that discharge droplets of liquids contained in the liquid chambers through liquid channels. The liquid discharge apparatus includes a substrate provided with partitions on one face thereof, the liquid chambers and the liquid channels being defined between the partitions. The liquid discharge apparatus further includes a nozzle sheet provided with adhesion-improving layers at least at positions corresponding to the top faces of the partitions and the nozzles for discharging liquid, the nozzle sheet and the top faces of the respective partitions being bonded to each other with the adhesion-improving layers. The liquid discharge apparatus also includes driving elements provided on the face of the substrate at positions corresponding to the liquid chambers, for changing the pressure of the liquid chambers. The liquid discharge apparatus is used as a printer head for ink jet printing.

摘要： A surface processing method for processing the surface of an insulating article in which an ion-implanted surface-modified layer is effectively formed on the article 2. In surface processing the article 2 of an insulating material, an electrically conductive thin metal film 50 is first formed on the article surface. A pulsed voltage containing a positive pulsed voltage and a negative pulsed voltage is applied to the article in a plasma containing ions to be implanted to implant ions in the article surface. This implants ions at right angles to the article surface to generate a surface-modified layer 51. There is no possibility of the article 2 being charged up due to application of a pulsed voltage.

摘要： A thermal transfer printer head for discharging ink by heating ink to transfer ink to a transfer member. A sub-wall is provided in a supply passage adjacent to a transfer portion to raise the liquid level of ink in the supply passage so as to prevent a breakpoint of ink in the supply passage. Thus, ink consumed in the transfer portion is spontaneously replenished to the transfer portion through the supply passage by a capillary phenomenon so that continuous supply of ink to the transfer portion is smoothly performed. The structure is formed such that ink in an excessively large quantity is not introduced into a portion above a heater provided for the transfer portion. As a result, even if the wettability of an ink holding structure formed above the heater is raised owning to adhesion of thermally degraded substances or the like, introduction of ink into the portion above the heater in a large quantity and rapid change in the quantity of transferred ink can be prevented.
