An ink container includes an ink discharging portion for discharging ink; an air vent; first liquid absorbing material for absorbing the ink therein and; a second ink absorbing material, disposed between the air vent and the first absorbing material, for absorbing the ink. The first and second absorbing materials at least partly contacting each other.

An ink jet head has a substrate on which ejection energy generating elements are provided, and a ceiling plate having a plurality of grooves for forming ink passages. The ceiling plate is pressed against the substrate by a pressing member, i.e., a spring. To improve the ejection performance of the ink jet head, the contact portion of the ceiling plate pressed by the pressing member is divided into a plurality of portions.

摘要:
An ink jet recording head comprises a grooved ceiling plate provided with a plurality of discharge openings for discharging ink, and a plurality of ink flow path grooves to form ink flow paths conductively connected with the discharge openings, a plurality of elemental substrates provided with a plurality of electrothermal transducing devices to generate thermal energy used for discharging ink, and a metallic pressure member for pressing the plurality of elemental substrates to be in contact with the grooved ceiling plate. The grooved ceiling plate and the elemental substrates are coupled to enable the ink flow path grooves and the electrothermal transducing devices to correspond to each other for the formation of ink flow paths. Here, the pressure member presses the reverse side of the surface of the elemental substrates having the electrothermal transducing devices provided therefor in order to couple the elemental substrates with the grooved ceiling plate. With the structure thus arranged, heat generated by the elemental substrates is efficiently transferred to the pressure member for radiation even for an ink jet recording head having no base plate or having a smaller base plate than the conventional one, while coupling the substrates and ceiling plate closely and reliably for the attainment of high quality recording.

A method for coupling a liquid jet head unit is to couple a liquid jet head unit for recording by discharging liquid to a recording medium with a head installation member capable of installing the head unit through an elastic member. This method comprises the steps of preparing a liquid jet head unit structured integrally with two orifice arrays substantially paralleled and a first supply opening group for supplying liquid to the orifice arrays, and a head installation member provided with a second supply opening group corresponding to the first supply opening group for supplying liquid to the liquid jet head unit, and also, an elastic member having holes corresponding to each of the supply opening groups, providing first and second coupling units for one end side and the other end side of the two orifice arrays for coupling the liquid jet head unit and the head unit installation member, respectively and coupling only one face of the liquid jet head unit and the head unit installation member using the first and second coupling units. With the adoption of this method, it is possible to implement stabilized recording on a recording medium by a stabilized ink supply, at the same time, preventing any erroneous installation in the coupling mode.
摘要:
An ink jet head has a first member having a plurality of energy generating elements for generating energy necessary for ejecting ink, a second member having a plurality of grooves separated by land portions, the grooves constituting an array of ink channels leading to an array of ink ejecting openings and the land portions constituting ink channel walls separating the ink channels, and a pressing member for pressing the first member and the second member to each other, thereby joining these members so that the ink channels are formed by cooperation between the first member and grooves in said second member. The height of ink channel walls is varied such that it is smaller at both end regions of the array of ink channels than at the central regions of the array of ink channels. Close and tight contact between the first member and the second member is attained in the central region of the ink channel array where the ink channels actually perform ejection of ink, so that ink can be discharged accurately without any crosstalk between adjacent ink channels, thus ensuring high quality printing.

An ink tank having an ink storing portion encases an ink-absorbent member for holding ink. The ink-absorbent member comprises a porous material having therein compressed open cells. The compression ratio r.sub.1 of an apparent volume V.sub.1 before compression to an apparent volume V.sub.2 after compression (r.sub.1 =V.sub.1 /V.sub.2) and the cell number p represented by number of cells per inch in the state of V.sub.1 satisfy the relation (I) below, and p being not more than 60.100 [inch.sup.-1 ].ltoreq.r.sub.1 .multidot.p.ltoreq.200 [inch.sup.-1 ](I)
