Abstract: A method, a system, and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium are described in which a congestion control service is provided. The congestion control service provides for congestion detection and management in relation to a diversified radio access network. The congestion control service includes using a radio spectrum re-allocation mechanism pertaining to different radio access technologies of the diversified radio access network to mitigation detected congestion.

Abstract: A device receives performance profiles associated with multiple available distributed units (DUs) of a wireless station, where each of the performance profiles is based on at least one of a network slice or a quality of service (QoS) handled by each respective DU of the multiple available DUs. The device selects a first DU of the multiple available DUs based on the performance profiles, obtains a user equipment's (UE's) user profile and a network performance requirement of the application associated with transport involving the UE, and selects a first user plane function of multiple distributed user plane functions for transport along a first transport path, that includes the selected DU, based on the user profile and the network performance requirements of the application. The device initiates data transport involving the UE via the selected first DU and the selected first user plane function, over the first transport path.

Abstract: A system and method provide for receiving an indication that a user device has been inactive; accessing a configuration table; identifying, based on the configuration table, a number of user devices that can be in an RRC inactive state; determining a current number of user devices that are in the RRC inactive state; transitioning the user device to the RRC inactive state when the current number of user devices is less than the threshold number of user devices; determining a priority associated with the user device when the current number equals the threshold number; and transitioning the user device to the RRC inactive state or an RRC idle state based on the priority of the user device.

Abstract: A device may receive a thermal report from a user equipment. The thermal report may indicate a temperature of the user equipment. The device may select a network action to reduce the temperature of the user equipment based on the temperature of the user equipment satisfying the temperature threshold. The device may perform the network action.

Abstract: Systems and methods described herein provide a multi-access edge computing (MEC) prediction service. A network device in a MEC network receives a predicted MEC route for an end device executing an application instance. The predicted MEC route identifies a projected time when the end device will connect to the network device for services and a service requirement for the application instance. The network device reserves resources to service the application instance at the projected time, based on the predicted MEC route. The network device provides a computing service for the application instance using the reserved resources when the end device initiates a data session with the network device.

The method may also include receiving, a radio resource control (RRC) connection request, establishing an RRC connection with the UE device and determining whether the first wireless station is a dual connectivity wireless station. The method may further include initiating, in response to determining that the first wireless station is not a dual connectivity wireless station, a handover of a wireless connection to the UE device from the first wireless station to a second wireless station that is a dual connectivity wireless station, or identifying, in response to determining that the first wireless station is a dual connectivity wireless station, a 5G wireless station in the 5G network to act as a serving cell for the UE device.

Abstract: A system described herein may provide a technique for performing carrier aggregation in a wireless telecommunications network in a manner that accounts for (a) diverse licenses for different carriers across different regions, (b) network considerations in minimizing the number of times carrier aggregation is performed, and (c) user equipment (“UE”) considerations in maximizing battery life by utilizing only the carriers that are necessary to utilize. A smallest carrier (or group of carriers) may be identified as a default carriers, and other carriers or groups of carriers may be ranked in descending order, according to size. The ranked list may be iteratively used when performing carrier aggregation, in which the largest available carrier (or group of carriers) from the list may be used for carrier aggregation.
