摘要: An OLED device comprises a cathode, a light emitting layer and an anode, in that order, and, has located between the cathode and the light emitting layer, a further layer containing a cyclometallated complex represented by Formula (4′) wherein: Z and the dashed arc represent two or three atoms and the bonds necessary to complete a 5- or 6-membered ring with M; each A represents H or a substituent and each B represents an independently selected substituent on the Z atoms, provided that two or more substituents may combine to form a fused ring or a fused ring system; j is 0-3 and k is 1 or 2; M represents a Group IA, IIA, IIIA and IIB element of the Periodic Table; m and n are independently selected integers selected to provide a neutral charge on the complex; and provided that the complex does not contain the 8-hydroxyquinolate ligand. Such devices exhibit reduce drive voltage while maintaining good luminance.

摘要: A white light-emitting OLED device comprising: an anode and a cathode; at least four light-emitting layers provided between the anode and the cathode, wherein each of the four light-emitting layers produces a different emission spectrum when current passes between the anode and cathode, and such spectra combine to form white light; and wherein the four light-emitting layers include a red light-emitting layer, a yellow light-emitting layer, a blue light-emitting layer, and a green light-emitting layer, arranged such that: i) each of the light-emitting layers is in contact with at least one other light-emitting layer, ii) the blue light-emitting layer is in contact with the green light-emitting layer, and iii) the red light-emitting layer is in contact with only one other light-emitting layer.

摘要: An OLED includes an anode formed over a substrate and a contaminant-scavenging layer formed over the anode, wherein the contaminant-scavenging layer includes one or more organic materials but not a hexaazatriphenylene derivative, each having an electron-accepting property and a reduction potential greater than −0.1 V vs. a Saturated Calomel Electrode, and wherein the one or more organic materials provide more than 50% by mole ratio of the contaminant-scavenging layer. The OLED also includes an organic electroluminescent unit formed over the contaminant-scavenging layer, wherein the organic electroluminescent unit includes a hole-transporting layer, a light-emitting layer, and an electron-transporting layer, and a cathode formed over the organic electroluminescent unit.

Each of the electroluminescent units include at least one individually selected organic light-emitting layer, and the first electroluminescent unit includes a first electron-transporting layer disposed between the cathode and the light-emitting layer of the first electroluminescent unit, wherein the first electron-transporting layer includes a first electron-transporting material. The intermediate connector includes a first n-type doped organic layer disposed in contact with the first electron-transporting layer, and wherein the first n-type doped organic layer includes an n-type dopant and an electron-transporting material that is different from the first electron-transporting material.

摘要: An OLED device produces white light more effectively matching the response of multicolor filters in an OLED device including an anode and a cathode and an organic EL element disposed between the anode and cathode having at least two different dopants for collectively emitting white light. The device includes a color filter array disposed over the EL element and including at least three separate filters having bandpass spectra for passing red, green, and blue light, respectively, in response to white light to produce preselected color outputs, and the composition of one or more of the dopants being selected to change the spectrum of the white light to be compatible with the spectrum of the color filters by having peak responses in the white light spectrum corresponding to the bandpass spectra of the red and blue color filters whereby the white light more effectively matches the responses of the color filters.

An intermediate connector is disposed between adjacent electroluminescent units, wherein the intermediate connector includes an n-doped organic layer and an electron-accepting layer, the electron-accepting layer being disposed closer to the cathode than the n-doped organic layer, and wherein the electron-accepting layer includes one or more organic materials, each having a reduction potential greater than −0.5 V vs. a Saturated Calomel Electrode, and wherein the one or more organic materials constitute more than 50% by volume of the electron-accepting layer.
