A digital video signal recording apparatus records a video signal expressed by four digital components such that even numbered pixel is expressed by a first type luminance signal component and two color difference signal components, and odd numbered pixel is expressed by a second type luminance signal component. For the 525/60 NTSC system with 3-segment and 4-channel arrangement, one field video signal is stored in three segments. The recording apparatus has a standard channel order generator for generating a standard channel order of a recurring channel pattern. The four digital components are aligned based on the recurring channel pattern so that the first type luminance signal component and two color difference signal components for the even numbered pixel are stored in a same segment by the same channel. As a result, the samples for the same-position pixels are recorded by the same recording head, adjacent samples are recorded by different heads, and error concealment functions effectively.

A method and an apparatus for converting a frame phase of a signal having a frame structure specified in the CCITT recommendations which contains N (N: an integer 2 or above) pieces of frames applied with time-division/multiplex, in which the N pieces of frames are given to N pieces of memories, respectively, a write address is given independently to each memory so that the N pieces of frames are written in the respective memories in a same phase as the phase in the signal, a read address is given independently to each memory so that the N pieces of frames are read out of the respective memories in a same phase as the write phase, a difference between a write address and a read address in each memory is set identical under an initial state, and justification is executed for a frame which is read out of the memory in accordance with a difference between existing write address and read address in each memory, whereby to perform frame phase conversion while maintaining relative phase among respective frames.

An air-controlled lumbar support apparatus for a vehicle seat having a base member and a backrest is provided and includes an inflatable chamber, a valve mechanism, and a pneumatic tube. The inflatable chamber is mounted within the backrest and includes at least one partition disposed across a substantial portion of the at least one inflatable chamber. The valve mechanism receives and discharges a flow of pressurized fluid. The pneumatic tube interconnects the valve mechanism and the inflatable chamber for transferring the flow of pressurized fluid. A pump is attached to the valve mechanism for injecting fluid through the valve mechanism and the pneumatic tube to inflate the inflatable chamber. A switching mechanism allows for the release of fluid out of the valve mechanism, thereby deflating the inflatable chamber, as desired.

A process of calibrating a blood sugar analyzing apparatus, in which the blood sugar concentration in a blood specimen is measured with a fixed enzyme membrane sensor and corrected by calibration means, said blood sugar analyzing apparatus providing a linear relationship between measured and actual blood sugar concentrations in a range of blood sugar concentrations which are lower than a predetermined blood sugar concentration, and producing a deviation from said linear relationship in a range of blood sugar concentrations higher than said predetermined blood sugar concentration, in that said process comprises the steps of effecting a plurality of measurements of standard solutions having known low blood sugar concentrations in said blood sugar analyzing apparatus, obtaining an average value of the results of the measurements with said calibration means, determining a first correction coefficient (k.sub.1) to correct a deviation of said average value from the reference blood sugar concentration, thereafter measuring a blood specimen, and multiplying the result of the measurement by said correction coefficient with said calibration means when said result of the measurement is less than said predetermined blood sugar concentration and by a second calibration coefficient (K.sub.2) when the result of the measurement exceeds said predetermined blood sugar concentration.
