摘要: The present invention generally provides methods and apparatuses that are adapted to form a high quality dielectric gate layer on a substrate. Embodiments contemplate a method wherein a metal plasma treatment process is used in lieu of a standard nitridization process to form a high dielectric constant layer on a substrate. Embodiments further contemplate an apparatus adapted to “implant” metal ions of relatively low energy in order to reduce ion bombardment damage to the gate dielectric layer, such as a silicon dioxide layer and to avoid incorporation of the metal atoms into the underlying silicon. In general, the process includes the steps of forming a high-k dielectric and then terminating the surface of the deposited high-k material to form a good interface between the gate electrode and the high-k dielectric material. Embodiments of the invention also provide a cluster tool that is adapted to form a high-k dielectric material, terminate the surface of the high-k dielectric material, perform any desirable post treatment steps, and form the polysilicon and/or metal gate layers.

摘要: A multifunction device includes an image scanning unit and an image printing unit. The multifunction device further includes au operation panel which is positioned on a front side of the image scanning unit. The operation panel includes a display portion. Each of the display portion and the operation panel has a horizontal center line and a vertical center line which is perpendicular to the horizontal center line. A length of the vertical center line of the display portion is about equal to a length of the vertical center line of the operation panel. A ratio of a length of the horizontal center line of the display portion to the length of the vertical center line of the display portion is greater than 4/3.

摘要: An image-forming device includes a media sensor having a light-emitting element and a light-receiving element for detecting edge positions of a paper based on values outputted from the light-receiving element as the target detection area of the media sensor is moved in relation to the paper. The value of a current to be supplied to the light-emitting element for edge detection is determined in the following manner. First, the media sensor is moved to the center of the paper-conveying path (S110). Then, the paper is conveyed to a prescribed position (S120-S150). Next, the value of the current that should be supplied to the light-emitting element (light amount adjusting value) in order that output from the light-receiving element will reach a desired value is determined at a position A on the paper at which the target detection area of the media sensor is being presently located (S160, S170). The target detection area is subsequently moved to a position B and a position C, while repeating the process to determine the light amount adjusting value (S180-S230). Finally, the paper edge detecting current is set to the smallest of the light amount adjusting values determined at positions A-C (S240).

摘要: A light-quantity adjusting apparatus is disclosed, in which a light-blocking member and an optical filter can be driven with a single actuator, and which can be made compact. The light-quantity adjusting apparatus includes a light-blocking member that changes a quantity of light through an open/close operation within an optical path, an optical filter that can be inserted into and withdrawn from the optical path, independently from the light-blocking member, and a driving mechanism that has a single actuator as a driving source and that drives the light-blocking member and the optical filter. The driving mechanism drives the optical filter by operating the actuator further in an opening direction after the actuator has driven the light-blocking member into an open position, and operating the actuator further in a closing direction after the actuator has driven the light-blocking member into a closed position.

摘要: A blurring correction controlling section determines a correction direction (deflection direction) from the blurring detected by a blurring detecting/calculating section and corrects the blurring by varying a refractive index of the electric deflection member in accordance with this correction direction. At this time, the electric deflection member is controlled such that, based on a result of detection by a refractive index state detecting section, the refractive index of the electric deflection member becomes a state corresponding to the correction direction. When it is detected based on a result of detection by the refractive index state detecting section that the electric deflection member is set in a correction direction, that is, becomes a desired refractive index state, the blurring correction controlling section informs this state to an image taking apparatus controlling section and the image taking apparatus controlling section allows an exposure device to start an exposure operation (image taking operation).

摘要: A control apparatus for a camera according to this invention causes a camera main body to start a photographing operation when a first signal is output by an operation of a release operating member. When proper photographing conditions cannot be obtained, e.g., in an out-of-focus or low-luminance state or during a camera shake, the control apparatus does not cause the camera main body to start the photographing operation until a second signal is output by an operation of the release operating member. The control apparatus for a camera of this invention compares an electrical signal corresponding to an operation of the release operating member with a determination level corresponding to an operation timing of the camera main body, thereby determining a shutter release timing. The determination level can be changed in accordance with at least one of a luminance of an object to be photographed, a focal length of a photographic lens, and a photographing mode of the camera main body.
