    摘要: A system and method for transporting an adhesive side of a sheet media, particularly a sheet media having an adhesive side with an encapsulated adhesive ruptured by an activator unit. This activation unit can include one or more of the following: a pressure roller, a pair of pressure rollers, an activator blade, a set of rotatable discs or a series of sets of rotatable discs. A sheet media having an encapsulated adhesive is fed past the activator unit in the system and method, whereby the capsules will be ruptured and the adhesive side of the sheet media is activated. A release liner device such as a belt or roll of releasable sheet media transports the activated sheet media throughout subsequent process steps, e.g. label printing, cutting, die casting, etc.

    摘要: A novel thermally responsive record material is disclosed, comprising support having provided thereon in substantially contiguous relationship with electron donating dye precursor, an acidic developer material, a sensitizer, and a binder therefor. The sensitizer comprises at least two components, the first component comprising 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-4-methylpentane and the second component comprising a mixture of dimethyl terephthalate and 1,2-diphenoxyethane, the first component being in a range of weight ratios from 1:2 to 2:1 relative the second component, said second component comprising from 50 to 70% dimethyl terephthalate. The sensitizer is prepared by admixing the first component and the second component and grinding the sensitizer to a particle size of less than 1 micron.

    摘要: The present invention discloses an improved coating for pressure-sensitive record material of the type comprising an aqueous slurry of binder and anionic microcapsules containing a color former and a solvent. The improvement comprises including in addition in the aqueous slurry an aluminum cation as a cationic metal salt in a concentration range of from about 0.15 parts of cation per 100 parts microcapsules to about 3.9 parts of cation per 100 parts microcapsules on a dry weight basis. Enhanced image intensity based on the active weight of coating used as measured by capsule solids is observed.

    摘要: An improved process for producing by interfacial reaction, a high solids an aqueous slurry of microcapsules is disclosed. Typical interfacial reaction involves the steps of emulsifying an oil phase containing the material to be encapsulated plus an oil-soluble, film-forming polyisocyanate in a continuous aqueous phase containing an emulsifying polymer under high shear conditions until the desired droplet size is obtained and then, under low shear conditions, adding a polyamine solution followed by an elevated temperature reaction sufficient to complete hardening of the polyurea capsule walls. The improvement of the invention comprising the introduction of a reaction period at elevated temperature between emulsification and polyamine addition, said reaction period permitting capsules of 10 microns or less average diameter to be made at greater than 40% by weight solids without agglomeration or resultant excess viscosity.
