Abstract: A replaceable tip for a tool. A locking pin is disposed on a transverse opening in the end of the tool. A sleeve having a cammed surface formed interiorly is disposed over the end of the tool with the ends of the locking pin contacting the cammed surface. The replaceable tip has a locking keeper which engages the locking pin. Rotation of the sleeve in opposite directions locks or unlocks the locking keeper to the locking pin to allow retention or removal of the tip. In an alternate embodiment the sleeve has opposite spring fingers which contact the ends of the locking pin.

Abstract: A ratchet wrench has a through cavity in which a reversing lever is disposed. The reversing lever has a pair of protruding lips formed thereon opposite from one another. Abstract: A method of making a recess in a drive socket and the like includes forming a groove to extend along a face of an elongated drive opening in a metal workpiece from one end of its drive opening, moving material from the surface of the groove to increase its depth from its outer end along only a portion of its length and gathering the material so moved from the groove surface to form a ledge between ends of the groove, whereby a recess is defined by the groove extending beyond the ledge. Abstract: A wrench having a floating pawl in a non-circular opening in the head of the wrench. The pawl has alternate positions for forward and reverse movement of the wrench. A reversing lever selectively moves an actuator to alternately engage one or the other leg of a spring within the wrench. Abstract: A tool is provided with a handle extension, including inner and outer telescoping members. The inner member is press-fitted to the handle of the tool, and the outer member is configured to provide a comfortable grip for the user of the tool. A spring-loaded detent means between the inner and outer members provides two alternate positions, constituting a normal position in which the outer member is disposed radially of the inner member (and of the handle of the tool) and an extended position in which the outer member is disposed rearwardly of the handle of the tool for providing increased manual leverage in using the tool. Abstract: A socket to be received in the opening in the head of a low profile ratchet wrench. The ratchet wrench has an annular lip formed partially circumferentially about the opening in the head. An adapter is provided to permit the use of ratchet wrench with conventional sockets and accessories.
