    Abstract: A very high performance tire (1, 101) for vehicles comprises a tread (14) provided with a plurality of transversal grooves (15) circumferentially distributed along the tread (14) in groups alternately extending from opposite shoulder zones (F, G) of the tread (14).     Abstract: A pneumatic tire comprises a tread portion divided into at least three land portions by at least two circumferential main grooves, and at least one of the three land portions is provided with sub-grooves being shallower in depth than the main grooves and having a width in the range of from 0.05 to 0.60 times the width of the main grooves. The sub-grooves comprises axial sub-grooves extending across the land portion and a circumferential sub-groove extending continuously in the circumferential direction of the tire. The circumferential sub-groove is provided in the bottom with a circumferential sipe extending continuously in the circumferential direction of the tire. Each of the axial sub-grooves is provided in the groove bottom on each side of the circumferential sub-groove with an axial sipe extending along the longitudinal direction thereof. The axial sipe has a first end on the circumferential sub-groove side and a second end on another side, the first end not intersecting the circumferential sipe and closed within the groove bottom, and the second end preferably closed within the groove bottom.

    Abstract: A pneumatic tire in which the uneven wear resistance and durability are improved without sacrificing the on-the-snow performances. The tire comprises a tread portion provided with blocks each having a top surface of which the centroid is located within the ground contacting width, each block provided with circumferentially spaced axially extending sipes. In each block, the depths of the sipes gradually increasing from both the circumferential edges of the block toward the circumferential central portion of the block so that at least one deepest sipe exists in the circumferential central portion, and the maximum depth of the deepest sipe being in the range of from 0.6 to 0.9 times the depth of the circumferential grooves. Preferably, the depth of each sipe is gradually decreased from the axially inside to the outside of the tire.

    Abstract: A tread for motor vehicle tires having circumferential grooves (3) and transverse grooves (4), a plurality of tread blocks (5, 6) circumferentially spaced apart to form two shoulder rows (5) and at least one central row (6) located between the shoulder rows. Each block (5, 6) is provided with one or more sipes or slits (11, 12) that are rectilinear and inclined with respect to the axis of rotation of the tire (2). The sipes (11, 12) of the blocks (5, 6) which constitute each of the shoulder and central rows are parallel to one another. The sipes (12) of the central rows (6) have an inclination, with respect to the axis of rotation, that is greater than the inclination of the sipes (11) of the blocks (6) which constitute the shoulder rows. This arrangement of the sipes (11, 12) substantially reduces the rolling noise of the tire.
