Abstract:
An airbag deployment control system for use in a vehicle seat having a trim cover. The airbag deployment control system includes an upper outer liner member having a first end for coupling to an airbag module and a second end for coupling to the trim cover, and a lower outer liner member having a first end for coupling to the airbag module and a second end for coupling to the trim cover. The trim cover is for covering at least a portion of the vehicle seat and the airbag module. The trim cover includes a burst seam for the airbag member to deploy through the trim cover by rupturing at the burst seam upon inflation of the airbag member. The upper outer liner member and the lower outer liner member control deployment of the inflatable airbag member at least two locations.
Abstract:
An airbag device includes an airbag, an inflator, a retainer and an airbag cover. The airbag is usually folded, and expands and develops in an emergency. The inflator supplies gas to the airbag. The retainer secures the airbag and the inflator. The airbag cover houses the airbag. The airbag cover has a plate-like part and an inner case. The plate-like part constitutes the interior surface of a vehicle. The inner case is disposed on the rear surface of the plate-like part and constitutes an expansion and development path for the airbag. The inner case has a plurality of retaining holes for retaining the retainer. The retainer has a roughly planar-shaped support body capable of being stored within the inner case and an annular belt-like body inserted into the retaining holes and attached to the support body.
Abstract:
An airbag assembly can include a stabilizer strap attached to an airbag, and the stabilizer strap can cooperate with a housing to prevent undesired rotation or skewing of the airbag during deployment. A portion of the stabilizer strap can be positioned at an exterior of the housing and can remain at the exterior of the housing throughout deployment of the airbag.
Abstract:
An airbag apparatus for a front passenger's seat is disclosed. The apparatus includes a wrapping member that wraps up an airbag in a folded-up configuration. The wrapping member includes a joint portion that is secured to an airbag housing or its vicinity together with the airbag, a main body that extends forward from the joint portion and a cover portion that extends rearward from the joint portion for deployment between the airbag and an out-of-position object in an initial phase of airbag deployment. During a folding process of the airbag, the cover portion is wrapped around a front-rear contracted bag, and a leading end of the cover portion is tucked down between an upper folded portion and a lower folded portion of the front-rear contracted bag.
Abstract:
An airbag device having an airbag that can be inflated and deployed by inflating gas; a gas generator that supplies the inflating gas to the inside of the airbag; a housing that accommodates the airbag in a folded state; and a cloth-like deployment restricting member that is fixed at one end to the housing and that encloses part of the folded airbag. A deployment non-restricted portion of the airbag deploys upward, the deployment non-restricted portion not being enclosed by the deployment restricting member, and a deployment restricted portion, which is enclosed by the deployment restricting member, is deployed afterward.
Abstract:
To prevent positional deviation in a folded back portion of a deployment restriction sheet reliably, an air bag device includes an air bag 1, an inflator 7 for deploying the air bag 1 by supplying the air bag with a generated gas, an air bag case 3 used to attach the inflator 7 and store the air bag 1, a retainer 6 for fixing an opening portion peripheral edge of the air bag 1 to the air bag case 3, and a deployment restriction sheet 11 that covers the air bag 1 from a vehicle body rear side to a vehicle body front side when the air bag 1 is stored. In the deployment restriction sheet 11, a folded back portion 11c is subjected to tacking 11d so as to separate upon application of a predetermined load A, and a rupturable portion 11e that ruptures upon application of a predetermined load B, which is larger than the load A, is provided on a first end 11a side positioned on the vehicle body front side. The first end 11a is attached to an air bag main body. A second end 11b is installed on the air bag main body. As a result, positional deviation of the folded back portion does not occur, and a cushioning effect can be applied to an occupant effectively.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an airbag module (18) with a tear strip (13) for specific opening of a seat cover (20) under which the airbag module (18) is to be mounted, wherein a plurality of tear strips (13) is provided. Furthermore, the invention relates to a seat with one such airbag module and also to a manufacturing apparatus and to an assembly method for one such airbag module.
Abstract:
An airbag apparatus includes a fixing bracket fixed to an upper portion of the side wall of a vehicle. The fixing bracket has an inflator support portion that supports an inflator, a fastening portion fastened and fixed to the upper portion of the side wall of the vehicle at a position below the inflator, and a restraining wall that extends along the axis direction of the fastening portion under the inflator. An airbag body is disposed between the inflator and an upper wall portion of the restraining wall, and the airbag body is compressed by the inflator and the upper wall portion and held between the inflator and the upper wall portion. The restraining wall restrains displacement of the airbag body so that the airbag body does not overlap a fastening operation area into which the fixing bracket is fastened.
Abstract:
An airbag arrangement in a vehicle seat, especially in a backrest, comprising an airbag module composed of an airbag housing, an airbag, and a charge for unfolding of the airbag, and a guide pocket attached to a covering of the vehicle seat in the region of an opening line of the covering. The guide pocket guides the airbag, as it unfolds, to the opening line, and wraps around the airbag module and a component secured to the vehicle seat. The two front ends of the guide pocket are attached in the region of the opening line of the covering. The airbag module is secured to the component, and the guide pocket is placed from above or from below about the component and the airbag module and extends about the airbag module in a loop-shaped manner.
Abstract:
An airbag module for protecting an occupant of a vehicle comprising an inflatable curtain airbag configured to deploy between an occupant and an interior side of the vehicle; an inflator for providing inflation gas for the airbag; a housing configured to surround the airbag; and a strap configured to retain the airbag in the housing prior to inflation and deployment of the airbag; wherein at least one end of the strap is connected to the housing.
