Abstract:
An airbag assembly is provided to include a chute channel disposed between an instrument panel skin and an airbag module. The chute channel includes a base; and a plurality of radial ribs disposed on a surface of the base, extending from a middle portion to an edge of the base and configured to transfer forces from the airbag deployment towards a tear seam on the instrument panel skin.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an airbag module (10) for being arranged on an instrument panel (5) comprising a fastening portion (22) provided for being arranged on the instrument panel (5), an inflator (16), an airbag (12), a receiving portion (26) for the airbag (12) extending from the inflator (16) to the fastening portion (22) and a retaining portion (24) which is accessible from outside of the receiving portion (26) and serves for retaining the inflator (16). The invention also relates to a subassembly comprising an instrument panel (5) and an airbag module (10) according to any one of the preceding claims, the fastening portion (22) of the airbag module (10) being connected to the instrument panel (5) and a retainer (28) formed separately from the airbag module (10) being provided which is connected to the retaining portion (24) of the airbag module (10).
Abstract:
In a vehicular seat, a side airbag module and a side support bladder are arranged inside a shell frame that constitutes a skeleton of a seat back. A base bracket of a support body is disposed between the side support bladder and the side airbag module. This base bracket is supported by the shell frame. The base bracket supports the side support bladder from outside in a seat width direction at the time of inflation of the side support bladder, and is rotated inward in the seat width direction around a hinge together with the side support bladder due to an inflation pressure of a side airbag at the time of inflation and deployment of the side airbag.
Abstract:
A side airbag module assembly for a vehicle seat back rest features a molded plastic cover (22) with a Class A surface constituting the outside of the cover visible after installation in the backrest (60). A base plate (32) of an airbag holder (24) made of metal or plastic is rigidly connected to the cover (22) by insert-molding or a different method of attachment. A fastening bracket (34) is integrally formed onto the base plate (32). An airbag (15) including a gas generator (14) is prepackaged in a soft pack (12) with fasteners (20) protruding from the soft pack (12). The fasteners (20) and the fastening bracket (34) are configured to attach the soft pack (12) to the airbag holder (24). Upon deployment of the airbag, the fastening bracket (34) will bend and thereby open the cover (22), which allows the airbag (15) to inflate in a forward direction.
Abstract:
A gas bag arrangement for a motor vehicle is provided. The gas bag arrangement contains a gas bag which can be deployed for the protection of a person present outside the motor vehicle along at least a section of the outside of the windshield or another portion of an outside of the motor vehicle, at least one pressure reducing device for reducing the internal pressure at least of a partial region of the at least partly inflated gas bag, and a means for moving at least a section of the at least partly inflated gas bag out of the field of view of a vehicle occupant of the vehicle.
Abstract:
Cover apparatuses for use with airbag modules for facilitating routing of a wire harness away from an attachment point of the airbag module include a body member adapted to at least partially surround a portion of an inflator and an inflatable cushion. At least one stud aperture is positioned in an attachment side of the cover apparatus, and adapted to receive one or more mounting studs therethrough. A plurality of wire apertures are disposed in the cover apparatus away from the attachment side. Each wire aperture of the plurality of wire apertures is adapted to receive a wire harness therethrough. Methods of making inflatable airbag modules includes coupling an inflator with an inflatable cushion, disposing a cover apparatus around at least a portion of the inflatable cushion and inflator, and disposing a wire harness through the plurality of wire apertures in the cover apparatus.
Abstract:
A side air bag restraint sub-assembly is disposed in a cavity in a vehicle seat. A reinforcement panel is secured to either the inflator bolts or the seat fame on one edge. The opposite edge of the reinforcement panel is sewn to a hem on one side of a tear seam.
Abstract:
A knee airbag device for a vehicle is provided that is capable of effectively protecting both knees of a seat occupant, regardless of position, shape or the like of an airbag door relative to the seat. In a passenger seat knee airbag device, a tear line of an airbag door retainer is broken and airbag doors are deployed upward and downward by deployment force of a knee airbag that receives a gas supply from an inflator. Thus, the knee airbag is deployed toward the knees of the occupant through an aperture portion formed in the airbag door retainer. A tear line of a form that is non-symmetrical between left and right is formed in a retaining sheet that is for retaining the knee airbag in a folded state. Thus, timings of deployment of the airbag doors by inflation pressure of the knee airbag are caused to differ between a left side portion and a right side portion.
Abstract:
A passenger seat air-bag module, may include a cushion plate on which an air-bag cushion is provided, the cushion plate mounted to a vehicle body, an inflator unit secured to the cushion plate and providing gas pressure to the air-bag cushion, and a seat cover secured at a first side thereof to the inflator unit and the cushion plate and secured at a second side thereof to the cushion plate to cover an outer portion of the air-bag cushion.
Abstract:
A side airbag installation in a backrest of a motor vehicle, the backrest having a stuffing covered by a covering material. An airbag module is disposed in a recessed area of the backrest and is encased by an interior bag. A rigid component is disposed on the backrest and extends about the recessed area thereof. A first trimming profile can be inserted into a U-shaped trimming channel (18) of the rigid component (10) in a positively connecting manner. Free ends of the interior bag are connected to the first trimming profile via a tear seam. A second trimming profile is also insertable into the trimming channel in a positively connected manner. One end of the covering material is connected to the second trimming profile.
