Abstract:
A guide apparatus is composed of a guide plate which is disposed in such a manner as to be able to move between an active position located within the sheet transfer space and a retreat position where the guide plate does not interfere with the sheet transferring from the collect cylinder to the jaw cylinder; a position-changeover drive unit for moving the guide plate between the active position and the retreat position; a printing-speed detection unit for detecting the driving speed of a rotary press and outputting a driving speed signal during printing; and a control unit for outputting, upon reception of the driving speed signal from the printing-speed detection unit, a position changeover signal to the position-changeover drive unit in order to move the guide plate accordingly.
Abstract:
A high speed paper folding machine for cutting a continuously fed web of paper into sections and folding said sections is disclosed. The machine includes a rotating hollow drum on which the web is deposited and on which the cutting and folding operations are performed without transferring the web or the cut or folded sections off of the drum. The drum includes a knife for cutting the web. The knife preferably is situated within the drum interior and adapted to extend through elongated apertures defined on the drum outer surface. Grippers on the drum hold the web on the drum through the operation. At least one folding station is operably associated with the drum. At least one pack-off station can be provided for stacking the folded product in separate stacks.
Abstract:
A folder having at least one folding unit with at least two mutually cooperating product-carrying cylinders, the folder having further folding attachments, and devices for increasing cutting accuracy, includes retaining elements engageable with at least one material web for retaining the web, and a rotating support surface assigned to one of the product-carrying cylinders within a transfer region, the rotating support surface serving to support the web when it is engaged by the retaining elements.
Abstract:
A folder for a web-fed rotary printing press includes a cooperating pair of collection and cutting cylinders to sever a paper web into web segments. A belt conveyor system enwraps a portion of the surface of the collection cylinder just before an intake point of the paper ribbon between the collection cylinder and the cutting cylinder. This belt conveyor system prevents the newly created leading edge of the paper ribbon from springing back.
Abstract:
Device for trouble-free conveyance of products in a folding apparatus both through a nip between two product-guiding cylinders and through a rearwardly extending wedge region bounded laterally by circumferential surfaces of both of the cylinders and at the top by a guiding device for the product to be conveyed includes a compressible covering on a respective one of the cylinders taking over a product, the compressible covering being formed with a plurality of chambers closable off by a section of the product.
Abstract:
Folding apparatus for a printing press which employs a moving conveyor belt in conjunction with a rotating folding flap cylinder to fold and move a copy segment through the printing press. Suction apparatus is provided to remove the copy segment from a folding blade cylinder so that it may be directed to the folding apparatus.
Abstract:
A folder comprising a knife cylinder adapted to be driven at a rate independent of the speed of the web being supplied, a mating cylinder adapted to cooperate with said knife cylinder in cutting a web into sections at a cutting nip and which is provided with grippers for the leading edges of the sections, and a belt conveyor belt trained around a part of the circumference of said mating cylinder following said nip. It is possible to ensure more accurate production and greater reliability if the folder is so designed that it includes at least one of the cylinders delimiting said cutting nip and having suction or blowing ports placed following the cutting means, such ports being adapted for causing a flow of air towards the cylinder having said grippers.
Abstract:
An apparatus for folding and receiving book documents comprises a main conveying device arranged and adapted to convey unfolded book documents in a main conveying direction and a secondary conveying device arranged and adapted to receive the book documents conveyed by the main conveying device and to convey them in a secondary conveying direction and/or against the secondary conveying direction, wherein the secondary conveying direction is transverse to the main conveying direction. Further, the apparatus comprises a receiving device arranged at a spatial distance from the first and/or the second conveying surface and configured to receive folded book documents. The device folds the conveyed book documents respectively with a movement in the secondary conveying direction and/or against the secondary conveying direction. Furthermore, a lifting device is arranged to convey the folded book documents from the main conveying device and/or from the secondary conveying device into the receiving device.
Abstract:
A sheet folding device includes a sheet conveyance path, first and second side plates, a first folding roller pair, a first folding guide, and a guide drive mechanism. The first folding guide is reciprocatable between a folding position and a retracted position, and includes a guide main body and first and second arms provided respectively at both ends of the guide main body. The guide drive mechanism includes a drive source provided on the first side plate, a first drive transmission portion that transmits a drive force of the drive source to the first arm, a second drive transmission portion that transmits the drive force to the second arm, and a drive coupling portion that couples the first drive transmission portion to the second drive transmission portion and transmits the drive force from the first drive transmission portion to the second drive transmission portion.
