Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention provide new and improved folding apparatuses and methods for interfolding a continuous stream of sheets into a single-fold interfolded pattern of sheets while passing all of the sheets substantially along a single sheet path. More particularly, all sheets in the continuous stream of sheets pass through the nips between adjacent components.

Abstract:
The present invention aims at full-automatic adjustment apparatus for gripper-base height in regularly engaging condition without clutch means.Apparatus according to the invention comprises operation shaft 28 which is co-centered with cylinder axis 16 and is movable in the axial direction of cylinder; the shaft being equipped with rack portion 32 at optional position in the axial direction of cylinder and rotation engagement portion 36 at the extruded end from cylinder axis; adjustment shaft 54 which is rotary provided at the optional position in the axial direction of cylinder to the radial direction and is rotated upon receiving the force from the rack portion 32; the shaft 54 being connected by way of rotation displacement means 58 to gripper-base 22 which is adjustably provided in the radial direction; and drive means 44 which is connected to said rotation engagement portion 36 and moves said operation shaft 28 in the axial direction of cylinder.
Abstract:
A folding apparatus includes a folding blade cylinder that carries at least one group of identical tools which are distributed homogeneously about the periphery of the folding blade cylinder. A cam plate is traced or followed by a control lever of each such group of tools and is usable to control a working movement of the tool. A cover disk, consisting of a plurality of cover cams, can be rotated. The cover cams of the cover disk are displaceable between an inactive position, in which they enable the control of the working movement by the cam plate, and an active position in which they prevent such movement. Two groups of tools are used on the folding blade cylinder and the cover cams form a first group of cams at an angular distance of between 60° or 120° to each other, and a second group of cams at an angular distance of between 90° to 180° to each other.
Abstract:
A transport or conveying device is used in a folding apparatus for transporting or conveying signatures. A transport or conveying cylinder, which carries the signatures, is placed in cooperative engagement with another cylinder. A position of a terminal end of a signature carried on the transport or conveying cylinder can be altered. The other cylinder that cooperates with the transport or conveying cylinder includes devices that press on the signature and that displace the end of the signature.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an arrangement of sheet-holding systems at storage drums in turning devices of sheet-fed printing machines. It is an object of the invention to provide an arrangement of sheet-holding systems at storage drums, which ensures a stiff construction of the storage drum and a simple adjustment of the sheet-holding systems relative to one another. Pursuant to the invention, this objective is accomplished owing to the fact that sheet-holding systems (8, 9) are provided in the front and rear regions for taking hold of the sheet (7) and can be adjusted relative to one another in the circumferential direction and the sheet holding systems (8) are assigned to the basic body (11) of the storage drum (5) for the front region and the sheet-holding systems (9) are assigned to a central axis (4), which can be fixed and rotated relative to the basic body (11) of the storage drum (5) for the rear region and the central axis (14 is connected with the sheet-holding system (9) by the side disk (17) of the basic body (11) of the storage drum (5).
Abstract:
The present invention is related to a device for seizing a flat material (25) such as a web of material (1) on a transporting surface (15). A first cylinder (7) has at least one knife assembly (12) assigned to its respective surface (9). A paper conducting cylinder (14) such as a transfer cylinder or a folding cylinder supports a flat material (25) on its respective outer circumference (15). Biased product seizing element (27) assigned to said circumference (9) of said first cylinder (7) are provided, adopting on cooperation with said leading edge (25) supported on said outer surface (15) of the paper conducting cylinder (14) an engaging position (32).
Abstract:
A folder for a rotary printing press, having at least one copy-guiding cylinder and, on the one copy-guiding cylinder, gripping devices for gripping one end of a copy, includes a cutting cylinder cooperating with the one copy-guiding cylinder, and copy-guiding devices provided on the cutting cylinder, the gripping devices of the one copy-guiding cylinder and the copy-guiding devices of the cutting cylinder being retractably and extensibly movable substantially parallel to normals to axes of rotation of the one copy-guiding cylinder and the cutting cylinder; and a method of operating the folder.
Abstract:
Point needles in a conveying cylinder of a rotary press are caused to follow a curve course which securely fastens a web to the cylinder while eliminating transport damage to the printed products as well as reducing paper waste. The needle tips of the point needles are moved along their path by the superimpositioning of two pivot movements, one of which is accomplished by a point holder arm and the second of which is accomplished by a rocker. The two cooperate to form a level four member swivel joint.
Abstract:
A gripper deceleration cross folder device having a rotatably mounted jaw cylinder including a plurality of jaw devices, a rotatably mounted gripper decelerator drum forming a nip with the jaw cylinder, and a plurality of gripper decelerator devices mounted on the gripper decelerator drum, each gripper decelerator for gripping and decelerating one of a plurality of signatures at a time. A respective tucking device corresponding to each of the plurality of gripper decelerator devices for tucking each one of the signatures into a corresponding one of the plurality of jaw devices after the decelerating of the signature so as to fold the signature.
