    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a sheet processing device includes a folding unit and a fold-enhancing unit. The folding unit folds a sheet and thus forms a fold line thereon. The fold-enhancing unit includes a fold-enhancing roller, an opposite member, and an auxiliary roller. The fold-enhancing roller moves along a fold-line direction in which the fold line on the sheet formed by the folding unit extends. The opposite member sandwiches the fold line with the fold-enhancing roller. The auxiliary roller rolls over the sheet from the same side as the fold-enhancing roller. The auxiliary roller is displaced in a unified manner with the fold-enhancing roller in the fold-line direction and the direction of the thickness of the folded sheet. A drag torque generated by the movement of the fold-enhancing roller in the fold-line direction is higher in the auxiliary roller than in the fold-enhancing roller.

    Abstract: A recording-medium-processing apparatus includes an advancing member configured to push a recording-medium batch by advancing toward a portion of the recording-medium batch, the recording-medium batch having a first end and a second end, the portion of the recording-medium batch being located between the first end and the second end; a pressing component configured to press the recording-medium batch that is traveling with a pushed portion of the recording-medium batch leading a movement of the recording-medium batch, the pushed portion being a portion where the recording-medium batch is being pushed by the advancing member; and a transporting component located on a downstream side from the pressing component in a direction of travel of the recording-medium batch and configured to transport toward the downstream side the recording-medium batch that is being pressed by the pressing component. A force that moves the recording-medium batch toward the downstream side in the direction of travel of the recording-medium batch is ineffective for the pressing component with respect to the recording-medium batch; or a speed of transport of the recording-medium batch by the transporting component in the direction of travel is greater than a speed of transport of the recording-medium batch by the pressing component in the direction of travel.

    Abstract: A sheet folding device includes a sheet conveyance path, first and second side plates, a first folding roller pair, a first folding guide, and a guide drive mechanism. The first folding guide is reciprocatable between a folding position and a retracted position, and includes a guide main body and first and second arms provided respectively at both ends of the guide main body. The guide drive mechanism includes a drive source provided on the first side plate, a first drive transmission portion that transmits a drive force of the drive source to the first arm, a second drive transmission portion that transmits the drive force to the second arm, and a drive coupling portion that couples the first drive transmission portion to the second drive transmission portion and transmits the drive force from the first drive transmission portion to the second drive transmission portion.
