    摘要: An ink formulation for marking living tissue comprises a dispersion of carbon black pigment particles encapsulated in water soluble shells, mixed with a pharmaceutically accepted carrier, such as water, and a preservative. A dispersion formulation is preferential to a suspension formulation for marking living tissue because the carbon particles of the dispersion formulation are less likely to aggregate and sediment over time. In addition, the absence of large quantities of additives makes a dispersion formulation less reactive to living tissue, further enhancing its appeal as a biological marker.

The ink composition may also include a second resin, plasticizers, antioxidants, corrosion inhibitors, lubricants, chemical dispersants, and surfactants. The inks of the present invention exhibit a smooth writing performance and non-seepage.

    摘要: A method for making a semipermanent mark on an individuals body comprises preparing a marking solution containing ninhydrin, preferably by mixing crystalline ninhydrin in water to provide a solution having a ninhydrin concentration of about 2% to 3% by weight and applying the resulting solution to a portion of the body such as a finger or thumb. A small quantity of a compatible dye, such as rhodamine, may also be added to the marking solution to produce an immediate, though less permanent, stain.
