Abstract:
This invention discloses a method for manufacturing ultra-thin fiber yarn having elastic characteristics. Ultra-thin fiber Textured Yarn and thermoplastic fiber are concurrently fed into a compression air jet system to produce elastic ultra-thin fibers. The two materials are made into a novel yarn with elastic function using the process of this invention, which is simpler as compared with other traditional processes associated with manufacturing elastic complex yarn. The process of this invention is capable of manufacturing elastic complex yarns with excellent size stability, capable of being easily woven, suitable for the textile and slopwork industries, and capable of producing textiles with good elasticity and high degree of comfort.
Abstract:
Described is wet-spun plural-end elastane yarn having a yarn linear density of up to 2500 dtex, high surface lustre and a ribbony cross section and formed from bonded-together individual filaments having an oval to circularly round cross section, the width of the elastane yarn in cross section being at least four times the thickness of the elastane yarn.
Abstract:
Polyurethane elastomer yams (particularly spandex) containing certain silver-based antimicrobial formulations therein are provided. This invention relates to polyurethane elastomer yams (particularly spandex) containing certain silver-based antimicrobial formulations therein. Such formulations comprise antimicrobial compounds, such as, preferably, triclosan and/or silver-containing ion-exchange resins, such as zirconium phosphate, glass, and/or zeolite compounds. The inventive spandex yarns exhibit excellent antimicrobial qualities as well as surprisingly good anti-tack/frictional characteristics. As a result, antimicrobial spandex yams are provided which exhibit ease in processing, particularly in further knitting, weaving, etc., to produce fabrics therefrom. Such fabrics are also encompassed within this invention.
Abstract:
A double-covered yarn based on a spandex core having a heat set of at least 50% and two sheath yarns wound in the same direction, a process for the preparation of such yarn and fabrics produced therefrom, are provided.
Abstract:
A composite yarn comprised of a chain stitch yarn knitted from a yarn A and at least an inlay yarn of a yarn B inserted into the chain stitch yarn along a longitudinal direction thereof. Since the chain stitch yarn and the inlay yarn are surely interlaced with each other in the composite yarn, there is little chance that the chain stitch yarn and the inlay yarn are separated in use. A preferable apparatus for manufacturing the composite yarn in accordance with the present invention may include individual winding mechanisms downstream of each knitting station in a warp knitting machine.
Abstract:
A smooth elastic stretch fabric which is plain woven with weft and/or warp yarns that include combination yarns which comprise a partially oriented synthetic crystalline polymer yarn combined with an elastomeric core wherein the smooth fabric (i.e., a non-crepe effect) is the result of a tight weave characterized by the reciprocal of the warp apparent fractional cover (i.e., 1/WaAFC) being in the range between about 1.13 and about 2.06. The fabric is stretched, heat set and finished under particular conditions to provide the resultant fabric with an elastic stretch of more than about 10% and dimensions about equal to the as-woven dimensions.
Abstract:
An improved dry spinning process for manufacturing splittable elastane multifilament yarns wherein the coalescence of individual filaments is prevented, through the use of multihole spinning jets, laminarizing gas flow and thread guides having one opening per individual fiber.
Abstract:
A stretchable flame resistant fabric (10) formed from a series of flame resistant warp yarns (11) interwoven with a series of filling yarns (12). The filling yarns (12) comprise core yarns (15) formed from an elastic material, wrapped with a series of wrap yarns (16) formed from a flame resistant material. The stretchable flame resistant fabric (10) thus provides a desired degree of flame resistance protection, while at the same time is stretchable in one direction to provide the fabric with greater flexibility without sacrificing flame resistance protection.
Abstract:
An apparatus and process for continuous production of a covered elastane-based yarn is shown in which a partially stretched multi-filament yarn is twisted about a tensioned bare elastane yarn, at less than 500 revolutions per meter, and then heated and stretched again to complete the residual stretching of both parts of the covered yarn.
Abstract:
A method for combining a relatively elastic yarn component with a relatively inelastic yarn component is disclosed, and wherein the two components are guided through a jet of high velocity air so as to entangle the filaments and produce a bulked composite yarn. To facilitate the air jet entangling operation, at least the inelastic yarn component is subjected to a filament spreading operation prior to its advance through the air jet. The method may also be incorporated in a false twisting process, and wherein the inelastic component is false twisted so as to transversely spread its filaments prior to its being brought into contact with the elastic component and subjected to the air jet.
