    Abstract: A floor panel includes male and female coupling means that are formed by at least one proximal groove that opens onto a lower face or upper face, respectively, of the panel and by a distal flexible tongue that extends from the end of the edge of the panel towards the lower face or upper face, respectively. The tongue has a proximal wall inclined at an angle with respect to a vertical plane towards the bottom and the outside of the panel and towards the top and the outside of the panel, respectively. The tongue of at least one of the male coupling means or female coupling means has a distal wall that includes, at least, a protrusion or a notch that is able to engage with a notch or a protrusion formed in or on a proximal wall of the proximal groove of the corresponding female coupling means or male coupling means so as to form an end stop, avoiding vertical movement of a panel with respect to an adjacent panel. The flexible tongue of the female coupling means comprises a chamfered part that forms an angle of between 2° and 20° with respect to the main plane of the panel.

    Abstract: Mounting brackets used for mounting decorative panels to walls is provided. The mounting brackets may each include a substantially planar body having a front surface, a rear surface, a top end and a bottom end forming a height in between, and a first end and a second end, forming a length in between. The mounting brackets further include at least one hook rail protruding from the front surface of the body at an angle relative to the front surface. The hook rail runs along at least a portion of the length of the body. A hook rail of a first bracket interlocks with a hook rail of a second bracket when the second bracket is disposed in an upside position relative to the first bracket.

    Abstract: A novel planking system utilizing an inventive groove design is provided. The novel groove is defined by two opposing side walls and a groove end wall. The groove side walls present two generally opposed tongue-engaging projections that automatically provide a uniform space between planks during installation, and accommodate expansion of the planks after installation by breaking away when force is exerted on the projections by an adjacent plank. The present invention is also concerned with a combination of planks having an inventive tongue-and-groove configuration, as well as inventive methods of assembling planks to accommodate the expansion and contraction of the assembled planks after installation.

    Abstract: A system for forming a flooring includes rectangular floorboards (1, 1′) including first and second types of floorboards (A, B), on which first and second locking devices are arranged in pairs on opposing short edges (5a, 5b) and long edges (4a, 4b), respectively, and on which the locking device of the first type of floorboard (A) along one pair of opposing joint edges is mirror inverted relative to the corresponding locking device along the same pair of opposing joint edges of the second type of floorboard (B).     Abstract: A composite wood panel having a first and second longitudinal edge, wherein the first edge includes a groove and the second edge includes a tongue for interlocking and engaging the complementary edges of an adjacent tongue and groove wood panel. The groove has two sides and a base transverse thereto, and the tongue has two side walls and a head extending outward from the second longitudinal edge, thereby forming a juncture between the side walls of the tongue and the second longitudinal edge. A shoulder is located at the juncture between one side wall of the tongue and the second longitudinal edge. Upon assembly of two complementary wood panels as described above, a novel tongue and groove joint is formed wherein the shoulder will abut the first longitudinal edge, thus preventing the tongue from being completely introduced into the complementary groove. As a result, a first aperture is formed between the head of the tongue and the base of the groove and a second aperture is formed between the first and second longitudinal edge both above and below the engaged tongue and groove.

    Abstract: A wood floor system comprises a plurality of parallel rows of floorboards laid end-to-end, and each of the floorboards includes a compression nub extending along a side surface thereof, adjacent the top surface. These compression nubs affirmatively engage an opposing side surface of an adjacent floorboard row, thereby sealing, or isolating, the top surface of the floor from the side surfaces of the floorboard rows. This uniformly distributes expansion and contraction forces throughout the floor, due to uniform spacing between the floorboard rows. The isolation of the upper floorboard surface from the side surface also prevents undesired downward migration or flow of liquid finishing solution, which can have serious adverse affects for a wood floor. The invention reduces the total volume of finishing solution necessary for finishing the floor, and it also reduces nulloverwoodnull during floor installation.
