    摘要: An all glass composite building panel suitable for use as an integral structural member in roofs, ceilings, walls, and floors. The panel is constructed of three layers of glass separated by integral raised walls fused to the adjacent glass layers to define three possible combinations of two enclosed spaces; two layers of contiguous individual vacuum cells; one layer of contiguous individual vacuum cells and one layer comprising a serpentine passageway for liquid flow therethrough, said serpentine passage containing a heat absorptive material; or two layers comprising individual serpentine passageways for liquid flow.

    摘要: A solar energy concentrator comprises an array of cylindrical Fresnel lenses, all of which are fixedly aligned in the East-West direction. Each lens concentrates the sun rays and forms a line image which extends in the East-West direction. Located below the lenses are individual fluid channels which extend in the EastWest direction and are spaced apart in the South-North direction. Each line image focuses onto preferably not more than two of the channels which absorb heat of the concentrated sun rays. Each channel has a thermostatically controlled valve which controls fluid flow through the channel to take place only when the channel''s temperature and/or the fluid therein exceed a threshold temperature level.

The solar collector frame has internally oriented projections for positioning a light transmissive cover, absorber plate, insulation and base to form an enclosure. To provide for maximum active or passive collection efficiency, by increasing resistance to heat flow, an easily maintained evacuated cover is disclosed. The solar collector can be economically manufactured and can be on-site fabricated, and adapted for single or multiple installation in original or retrofit applications in a building with minimal structural modification.

    摘要: A solar water heater has a plurality of generally triangularly shaped panels, the panels being assembled in a pyramidal or prism shaped structure on top of a base structure. Each panel includes a planar transparent structure for permitting the passage of solar radiation therethrough. Coupled to the planar structure is a radiation absorbing member or multiplicity of radiation absorbing elements. The radiation absorbing member or elements are configured to form an enclosed structure so that water can flow, typically in channels, therebetween. An inlet is provided at the top of each panel and an outlet is provided at the bottom of each panel so that water can be introduced into the interior of the top of the panel and flows, under the influence of gravity, to the bottom of the panel, i.e., through the outlet. The solar radiation passing through the planar transparent structure is absorbed by the radiation absorbing member or elements, the radiation absorbing member or elements being heated thereby. The heat of the radiation absorbing member is transferred to the water. The radiation absorbing member has a channel structure fabricated to increase the length of time the water stays in contact with the radiation absorbing member or elements, thereby enhancing the heat transfer.This is a continuation-in-part of copending application Ser. No. 06/932,938 filed on Nov. 20, 1986, now U.S. Pat. No. 4,782,816 issued Nov. 8, 1988.

    摘要: A solar heater has an outlet conduit above an inlet conduit intercoupling a solar heating chamber with the inside of a building through a window opening. In one form the solar collecting chamber is outside the building below the window and the outlet conduit and inlet conduit are contiguous and pass through the window opening between the windowsill and the lower sash. In another form of the invention the solar collecting chambers are located beside each side of the window and joined at the top by the outlet conduit that passes through an opening between the upper window sash and the top of the window frame and at the bottom by an inlet conduit that passes through an opening between the lower sash and the windowsill. The outlet conduit carries photoelectric cells that provide electrical energy for driving a squirrel-cage fan in the outlet conduit through a mercury switch seated on a damper actuated by a bimetallic coil that closes the damper when the temperature in the outlet conduit goes below a predetermined temperature.

    摘要: A modular solar heating device particularly designed and constructed for installation at the base of a mobile home, and comprising a support housing of a substantially triangular cross sectional configuration for supporting a light transmitting cover in an angular orientation with respect to the horizontal for transmitting energy from the sun to a heating plate disposed within the housing in spaced and substantially parallel planar relation with respect to the cover. A cool air receiving chamber is provided below the heating plate and in communication with a cold air return vent within the interior of the home for receiving cooled air therefrom. A hot air chamber is provided between the heating plate and the cover due to a greenhouse effect, and an air passageway provides communication between the cool air receiving chamber and the hot air chamber. The hot air chamber is in open communication with warm air vents provided in the interior of the housing whereby the heated air may be discharged into the room for heating thereof. A blower may be provided for facilitating the circulation of the air to and from the interior of the home and through the solar heating device.

    摘要: A solar heating panel arrangement and method wherein a plurality of spherical lenses transmit and focus solar radiation onto the upper surface of a fluid passage for various relative positions of the sun. The upper surface of the passage is in heat transfer proximity to the fluid therein, causing solar radiation focused thereon to be transferred to the fluid in the form of heat. Solar radiation not directly incident on the lenses may be reflected onto them to increase the amount of solar energy available for transfer to the fluid. A supplementary insulating flow of fluid may also be provided above the passage to absorb heat passing upwardly therefrom and retain the heat within the system.
