摘要: A glass unit according to the present invention includes a first glass plate, a second glass plate that is arranged facing the first glass plate with a predetermined interval therebetween and forms an internal space with the first glass plate, a sealing member that seals a gap at peripheral edges of the first glass plate and the second glass plate, and a plurality of spacers arranged between the first glass plate and the second glass plate. The internal space has been depressurized to a vacuum state, or a predetermined gas has been injected into the internal space. The first and second glass plates each have a thickness of 5 mm or less, the pitch of the spacers is 15 mm or more, and the difference between the height of the highest spacer and the height of the lowest spacer is 0.01 mm or less.

摘要: Materials and methods for preparing thick, mesoporous silica monolithic slabs and coatings with high transparency and low thermal conductivity are provided. The transparent silica materials are particularly suited for window or solar applications including insulation barriers for existing or new single, double pane windows or glass panel building components. The template-free, water-based sol-gel methods produce slabs or coatings by gelation of a colloidal suspension of silica or other oxide nanoparticles or by ambigel formation and then ageing and drying the gels under ambient conditions. Solvent exchanges with nonpolar, low-surface-tension solvents help to avoid cracking caused by drying stress. Mesoporous slabs can also be cast in molds on perfluorocarbon liquid substrates to reduce adhesion and enable gels to shrink freely during aging and drying without incurring significant stress that could cause fracture.

摘要: The present disclosure relates to an aperture cover such as a window or a door. The aperture cover comprises a vacuum insulated glass unit (3), and a frame (2, 17) such as a sash. The frame (2, 17) comprises elongated structural frame members (8) which together encloses a frame opening (2a). The vacuum insulated glass unit (3) overlaps (18) at least one of the elongated structural frame members (8) so that the edge surface (7) of the vacuum insulated glass unit (3) extends beyond the outer side surface (14) of the overlapped elongated structural frame member (8). The frame (2) moreover comprises an elongated connection profile (6) comprising a connection wall member (6a) which extends parallel to the overlapped structural frame member (8) and is connected to at least one of the outer major surfaces (S1, S2) of the vacuum insulated glass unit (3), and the elongated connection profile (6) comprises a fixation member (6b) which is connected to the overlapped structural frame member (8).

摘要: A method of making a vacuum insulating panel, the vacuum insulating panel comprising a first glass substrate, a second glass substrate, a plurality of spacers provided in a gap between at least the first and second glass substrates, and a seal provided between at least the first and second glass substrates, the seal comprising a first seal layer and/or a second seal layer. The method may include laser heating, using a laser beam from a continuous wave near-IR laser, seal material in order to form the first seal layer; wherein the laser heating may include causing the laser beam to move at a lateral speed of from about 5-70 mm/second relative to the substrates and the first seal material so that the laser beam at least partially passes through at least one of the glass substrates and impinges upon at least the second seal layer in order to heat the second seal layer and fire and/or sinter the first seal material thereby forming the first seal layer.

摘要: Sealants, vacuum insulated glazing (VIG) units having seals formed from the sealants, and methods for producing the VIG units using the sealants are provided. The sealants include a mixture of glass materials in powder form and a carrier medium. The glass materials have compositions including: 0 to 55 wt. % Bi2O3; 10 to 65 wt. % SiO2; 1 to 10 wt. % Al2O3; 10 to 30 wt. % R2O, wherein R is chosen from the group consisting of Li, Na, K, or a combination thereof; 0.01 to 20 wt. % of RO, wherein R is chosen from the group consisting of Ca, Mg, or a combination thereof; 2 to 15 wt. % of BaO; 0 to 5 wt. % TeO2; 0.01 to 20 wt. % of Fe2O3 or FeO; 2 to 30 wt. % of B2O3; 0.1 to 2 wt. % of P2O5; 0.1 to 2 wt. % of ZnO; and 0.1 to 2 wt. % of CuO or Cu2O.
