    摘要: A recording tape cartridge includes a case, a shielding member, a first dustproofing wall portion and a second dustproofing wall portion. The case rotatably accommodates a single reel on which a recording tape is wound. An aperture is formed in a side wall of the case for drawing out of a leader member attached to an end portion of the recording tape. The shielding member slides along the side wall to open and close the aperture. The first dustproofing wall portion is provided protruding from a portion of the side wall, and the second dustproofing wall portion is provided protruding from the shielding member. When the aperture is closed, the first dustproofing wall portion opposes the shielding member and the second dustproofing wall portion contacts or is proximate to the first dustproofing wall portion.

The brake gear, by being displaced in the axial line direction of the reel, can take a rotation lock position where the brake gear meshes with the engagement gear and a rotation allowance position where the meshing is released.

The magnetic tape can decrease PES and off-track and thus is excellent in servo tracking performance.

The controller (44) can use an algorithm to adjust these conditions. The algorithm can be based on the pliability of the lapping tape (478), a curvature of the tape head (260) and/or the grit of the lapping tape (478). In addition, or in the alternative, the algorithm can be based on at least one of an output of the tape head (260), a resolution of a signal from the tape head (260), an error rate in reading of data by the tape head (260) from the storage tape (278), an error rate in writing of data by the tape head (260) to the storage tape (278), and a signal-to-noise ratio from the tape head (260).

    摘要: In a single-reel type tape cartridge of a servo tracking system in which signal recording is performed, a tape reel capable of eliminating edge projection during tape winding and achieving high recording density of a magnetic tape and a magnetic tape cartridge for housing the tape reel is provided. The tape reel is provided with a cylindrical hub around which the magnetic tape is wound and a pair of upper and lower flanges. The average value of the thickness of a reference flange that receives the tape edge of the magnetic tape during tape winding is set greater than the average value of the thickness of the opposite flange. The tape receiving surface of the reference flange is formed into an inclined surface, and three or more air escape recess portions are formed on the tape receiving surface. The depth of each air escape recess portion is set not smaller than 0.05 mm and not greater than 0.40 mm. The occupation area of all the air escape recess portions is set to 30% to 80% of the total area of the reference flange. Such tape reel is housed in a magnetic tape cartridge.

In this reel 30, an engaging portion 48 is formed at the lower flange 40, the engaging portion 48 engaging with a braking member 60 that is held so as to be unable to rotate at the case 12 at times of non-use.
