摘要： A key 20 is formed with a blade 22 having six bits 30, 32, 34, 36, 38 and 40 formed along one edge of the blade. A shoulder 42 is formed on a trailing end 28 of blade 22 and is positioned to cooperate with a front face 82 of a plug 50 of a five-pin cylinder lock 46 to locate bits 30, 32, 34, 36 and 38 adjacent five respective sets of tumbler pins in the operation of the lock. Key 20 can also be used with a six-pin cylinder lock 110. Shoulder 42 is moved through a slot 130 in a front face 134 of a plug 114 of lock 110 and engages a stop surface 132 whereby bits 30, 32, 34, 36, 38 and 40 are properly positioned adjacent six respective sets of tumbler pins in the operation of the lock.

A concavity (18) are formed on an inner wall of the casing (11), and a chamfer (19) is formed on the key cylinder (13). When the lever (15) is in the locked position and the key cylinder (13) is further rotated to the dead-locked position over the locked position, the blocking member (17) moves away from the chamfer (19) of the key cylinder (13) and into the concavity (18) of the casing (11). When the key is pulled out from the key cylinder in the dead-locked position, the locking device is forcibly maintained in the locked position to prevent unauthorized unlocking.

摘要： The lock comprises an improvement in a lock of the type having a cylinder with an associated internal cavity, a key operated lock plug rotatably mounted in the cylinder cavity and a coupling mounted for rotation relative to the lock cylinder for association with a lock member that is movable upon rotation of the coupling between locked and open states. Shoulders are provided on the plug and coupling and upon effecting relative rotation between the coupling and plug through a change key the shoulders can be selectively brought into interfering, facing relationship to prohibit withdrawal of the plug or misaligned to allow removal of the plug. An access key, that is longer than the change key, in a fully seated position in the plug keyway, extends into the coupling opening and is thereby keyed to the coupling so that turning of the control key directly operates the coupling. Structure is provided for preventing shifting of the lock member from its locked state in the absence of a key being in the keyway.

摘要： A padlock comprising a body having a pair of parallel bores therein adapted to receive the legs of a shackle, and a shackle having a pair of parallel legs slidably received in said bores. A locking means is positioned within the padlock body to secure the shackle in the body when the legs are depressed into the bores. An interchangeable means, such as a standard cylinder lock, is provided for releasing the locking means and includes key-operated means operable by turning movement of a key to effect the release of the shackle from the locking means to allow one of the shackle legs to withdraw from the padlock body. The padlock body has an opening to receive the interchangeable means to permit positioning the interchangeable means within the padlock body. Detachable cover means adapted to close the opening is provided. Fastener means, such as a screw member, operable from within the body, is engageable in fastening relation with the cover means. Tool means, such as a screwdriver tip, is carried by the other of said shackle legs within the padlock body. The tool means is movable by movement of the shackle to engage and move the fastener means whereby to selectively engage or disengage the fastener means relative to the cover means for selective connection or disconnection of the cover means relative to the padlock body.

摘要： A padlock of the type having a removable locking plug or cylinder capable of being removed from the top through a top opening in the lock case, also has a cap for the top opening. This cap is locked into the padlock case by a loose ball fitting in a groove in the cap and in the case. This cap locking ball is in addition to two other conventional locking balls used to lock the shackle in one conventional type padlock. The shackle is retained by another ball which is carried by a shackle leg and cooperates with another groove in the case. The shackle locking ball is placed in or out of locking position by adjustment of a set screw in the shackle leg.

摘要： A cylinder lock plug comprising two plug sections adapted to mate on facing surfaces defining a keyway, with the periphery of the sections adapted to slide into a cylindrical plug sleeve containing pin tumbler holes to complete the plug. Each plug section has an enlarged shoulder area adjacent one end and a threaded section adjacent the other end. When the plug is assembled with the cylindrical member into a cylinder, the enlarged shoulder areas mate to form the front face of the plug, and the threaded sections cooperate to define a threaded surface to receive a threaded retaining member. Each plug section defines the shape of one side of the keyway, so that plugs with a great variety of keyways may be made by using different combinations of a few plug sections.
