摘要： Apparatus for applying an adaptable pressure waveform to a patient's limb for augmenting venous blood flow in the limb comprises: an inflatable sleeve for positioning onto a limb to apply a pressure to the limb beneath the sleeve when inflated with gas; pressure transducing means for sensing the pressure of gas in the sleeve and for producing a sleeve pressure signal indicative of the sensed pressure; pressure waveform application means responsive to the sleeve pressure signal and a reference pressure waveform signal for controlling the supply of pressurized gas to the sleeve so that the sensed pressure in the sleeve is maintained near a varying pressure indicated by the reference pressure waveform signal; and waveform register means for producing the reference pressure waveform signal indicative of a reference pressure waveform during a cycle time period wherein the reference pressure waveform includes a maximum pressure at a time within the cycle time period and a rate of pressure increase in an interval leading to the maximum pressure and wherein the waveform register means includes waveform adaptation means for allowing the rate of pressure increase to be changed from a first rate to a second rate without changing the maximum pressure at the time.

The apparatus can be constructed to include a motor and crank assembly connected to a flexible sheet and a stationary inertial member. In one aspect of the invention there is provided an apparatus for generating wave motion, comprising a flexible member; an oscillatory drive means attached to said flexible member, said oscillatory drive means including a crank assembly having an axis of rotation; at least two link members each having opposed first and second end portions, the at least two link members being spaced apart a first pre-selected distance from each other and each being rigidly attached at their respective first end portions to said flexible member; and at least one elongate beam, said at least two link members being pivotally attached to the at least one elongate beam, and the elongate beam being attached to the crank assembly, for imparting oscillatory motion to the at least one elongate beam so that when the oscillatory drive means is engaged the at least one elongate beam undergoes oscillatory motion which produces transverse waves along the flexible member.

A body portion of the container has a lower generally planar side forming a base of the foot rest. An upper side can be domed or curved in a cylindrical arc, and includes an array of outward projections. The lower surface includes a substrate gripping feature for gripping a carpet or floor. The foot rest can be used in either a sitting or standing position and is inexpensive to manufacture.

摘要： A physical therapy apparatus having a padded top surface upon which a patient comfortably reclines in the face up position with the spinal area being placed in contact respective a plurality of massaging members. The massaging members are recessed within the padded top and have a massaging members extending into contact with the patients back while jointly moved along the spine with the members being individually rapidly oscillated in a circular pattern at a selected magnitude of pressure and rate of travel. At the same time, the massaging members are moved a limited length along the entire spine causing each to describe a longitudinally moving circular pattern of a spiral, with each massaging member describing a different size pattern with the member that contacts the uppermost part of the spinal column moving within a relatively small pattern while the massaging members that contact the lower part of the spinal column move within a relatively large pattern with the pattern of movement progressively increasing sequentially from one to the other end of the spinal column. The terminal ends of the massaging members each are elevated into contact with the spine and assume a curve approximating the curvature of the spinal area so that a patient reclining in a supine position will gravitate into proper contact with all of the massaging members.
