Abstract: A somatosensation and proprioceptor stimulation surface configured to stimulate rapid-firing nerves in the receptive field of a user's glabrous skin. The somatorsensation and proprioceptor stimulation surface includes a plurality of protuberances disposed thereupon, each protuberance sized and spaced apart appropriately to impress the receptive field when pressed in contact with the glabrous skin of the user. Each protuberance widens from an apex toward a base whereby increased pressure applied to the surface increases an area of contact and stimulation by applying stimulation over a larger area of skin. The protuberances are spaced apart to maximize stimulation of rapid firing nerves while lessening overstimulation. The somatosensation and proprioceptor stimulation surface is rendered in the form of a mat or floor covering and alternatively as an insole for wear in a user's shoes.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a device that is used in conjunction with different types of massage implements that can be used to massage the user. The massage therapy device and method is a pouch with a hollow interior for holding the massage implement such as mobility ball. A strap is coupled to the pouch and utilized to maintain a position of the massage implement relative to the user when the massage therapy device is in use. The massage therapy device and method prevents various size mobility balls from slipping while trying to target specific areas of the body. The strap, located on each side of the pouch, includes an adjustable loop to facilitate the used grasping the strap and adjusting a length of the strap.

Abstract: A method of administering a massage comprising providing a base member with a flexible member coupled to opposite sides of the base member. The base member is rested on top of a support surface so that connection points where the flexible member attaches to the base member are vertically disposed above the support surface. A patient is positioned on the base member and the support surface so that the patient is laying between the opposite sides of the base member. Force is delivered to the patient laying on the base member using a foot of a massage practitioner. The massage practitioner utilizes the flexible member to assist with balance of the massage practitioner while the force is delivered to the patient.

Abstract: A proprioceptor stimulation material includes a plurality of pyramid-shaped nodes that may be arranged to stimulate small nerve proprioceptors in a user. The plurality of nodes may be arranged in diamond-shaped patterns and may stimulate small nerves in a user. The material may provide a pattern and/or texture that may stabilize a user's balance. The material may also provide friction when pressure may be applied from the user on the plurality of pyramid-shaped nodes. The material and/or the plurality of pyramid-shaped nodes may provide a hardness that may activate a user's nerves. Further, the material may reflect and absorb vibration external to the material.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for treating inflammatory symptoms associated with plantar fasciitis in a foot. The method involves stretching gastrocnemius and soleus muscles associated with the foot by placing the sole of the foot on an inclined ramp surface and cooling at least one portion of the sole of the foot. The method may further involve providing localized pressure to at least one portion of the plantar fascia, and to a portion of the foot below the toes, to cause dorsiflexion thereof.
