    摘要： An apparatus and method for applying correction strips with encodable indicia to bank checks and similar documents and for removing previously applied correction strips from checks and reapplying a new correction strip to such a check. The apparatus includes feed mechanism for feeding checks without previously applied correction strips and with previously applied correction strips along parallel feed paths which merge to a common feed path provided by plural endless flexible belts. A rotatable drum is interposed in the common feedpath and is disposed in proximity to a heater element engageable with a heat activatable adhesive band portion of the correction strip for applying the adhesive band to the front lower face of bank checks and similar documents. A rotary cutter is disposed in one of the parallel feed paths for cutting a previously applied correction strip from the lower edge of a check. Feed mechanism associated with the apparatus includes parallel feed slots and endless transport belts for receiving respectively a check without a previously applied correction strip and a check with a previously applied correction strip. An operator actuable switch is provided to select an operating mode wherein a check may have a correction strip applied thereto, be transported through the apparatus without application of a correction strip, and have an old correction strip removed from a check and a new correction strip applied to that check.

    摘要： Stocking handling apparatus having carrier plates on which pairs of stockings are indexed transversely from a loading station through label and transfer applying stations to a folding station. A label folding mechanism receives an adhesive coated label at the label applying station and positions it at the end portion of a pair of stockings on the carrier plate and folds the label thereover to adhere it thereto. At the transfer applying station a transfer strip is fed under a holddown frame that positions the strip on the top stocking of the pair while a hot transfer iron moves against the transfer strip to transfer the indicia therefrom to the stocking. A stocking folding rod lifts the pair of stockings from the carrier plate at the folding station in folded condition over the rod and transports the folded stockings through a passage between spaced opposed walls to a hanger clip inserting station at which a mechanism inserts hanger clips in the fold of the stocking with the folding rod having a slot facing the fold to accommodate receipt of a portion of the hanger clip and the passage walls being spaced close enough to apply resistance to movement of the stockings to tension the stockings on the rod to prevent displacement during hanger clip insertion. The stockings are discharged to a collection station by withdrawal of the rod and downward pivoting of a section of the wall under the stockings with a conveyor transporting stockings therefrom.

    摘要： An apparatus of applying labels coated with a thermoactivatable adhesive. The labels are stacked in a magazine, are serially withdrawn by a vacuum picker and deposited on a platform. Each label is transferred from this platform, pressed against a garment, and tacked in place by small area of adhesive on label which is heated during travel. Thereafter, entire label is heated and pressed against garment to effect final bond.

    摘要： A hand-held device for applying a label having a thermoplastic backing material onto a garment includes an element for releasably grasping and holding the label while the label is being transferred to the garment for attachment. The device also includes a heating surface that is brought into contact with the label to heat the thermoplastic material and thereby attach the label to the garment, after which the grasping element is released from the label. Several elements are disclosed for releasably grasping and holding the label, including prongs, a magnet, and an electrostatic field producing element. For use with the applicator device utilizing a magnet, a label is disclosed containing magnetic material for attraction to the device.
