    摘要: A coherent-on-receive radar for determining the velocity of and distance to targets. The radar conventionally includes a transmitter of non-coherent pulses, an antenna for transmitting the pulses into space and receiving return signals from targets upon which the pulses impinge, a local oscillator and a phase detecting circuit responsive to the return signal and local oscillator signal for determining the phase difference between the respective signals. In accordance with the invention the radar includes a sample and hold circuit used in conjunction with the phase detecting circuit, prior to the receipt of any return signal, for storing for each transmitted pulse its phase difference from the local oscillator signal phase. The stored signal is used to modify the phase of one or the other of return signals sent to the phase detector or local oscillator signal as sent to the phase detector so the detector in effect detects the phase difference between each transmitted pulse and the return signals resulting therefrom.

    摘要: A complex pulse repetition frequency generator for producing a pulse repeion frequency (PRF) signal having programmable stagger intervals. The device consists of a clock for selecting one of a series of standard clock pulses which are used to increment a counter. A comparator compares the accumlated clock pulses with a stagger data output signal produced by a data memory source. When the outputs are equal, the comparator produces a PRF output pulse. Two data memory bands are provided; a random access memory in which stagger data can be programmed by a series of switches, and a preprogrammed read-only memory. Address counters are used with each memory unit and provide capability for addressing selected memory locations from the data memory sources. A pulse width generator allows the operator to vary the pulse width and utilizes an injection lock oscillator to prevent jitter whenever a standard clock pulse is used which is not an even multiple of a hundred nanoseconds.

    摘要: Disclosed is a radar signal processor providing Moving Target Indicator (MTI) operation with Constant False Alarm Ratio (CFAR) capability. The processor affords substantially reduced incidence of false alarms due to large clutter scatterer returns which exceed normal detection thresholds even after suppression by conventional MTI processing, and at the same time it affords largely unimpaired subclutter visibility. These capabilities are achieved by paralleling the MTI channel with a second processor channel which provides CFAR operation by imposing an additional detection threshold effective to blank the response of the MTI channel to very large clutter scatterers.

    摘要: An automatic, digitally controlled apparatus for improving radar target recognition and identification capabilities of high-range resolution radars. A transmitted high-range resolution pulse train produces a complex echo signal from a target illuminated thereby. The echo signal from the target illuminated consists of a series of discrete RF response pulses reflected from the scatter centers on the target. Each scatter center produces a reflected RF pulse response that is separated in time with respect to the other RF pulses an amount proportional to the position of its corresponding scatter center on the target with respect to the other scatter centers. Each response is processed in a different one of a plurality of delay channels having a variable delay element that is responsive to digital control signals. By selectively energizing each delay element in the delay channels, the RF pulses or responses received first are delayed until the last RF pulse or response in each echo signal is received. The processed response from each of the scatter centers can then be combined such that the combined peak response from the target will comprise an algebraic superposition of the individual responses from the scatter centers. Stored digital control signals based upon a priori target range profile signature data and corresponding to matched conditions for known targets are applied to the delay channels so that when the response from the target under surveillance matches to a matched condition for a known target, the target under surveillance is thereby identified.

    摘要: A method and system for interfacing a variable interpulse period radar system with a fixed interpulse period output device is disclosed. The radar interpulse period is varied in a predetermined manner about an average interpulse period so that the sum of a predetermined plural number of varying interpulse periods is an integral multiple of the average period. The output interpulse period may then be a fixed submultiple of the average period. Target information for multiple radar transmissions is combined by a signal summing technique to prevent loss or degradation of target detectability. In accordance with the disclosed summing technique, a current target information signal is summed with a fractional portion of previously stored target data and the sum is then stored for further use.

Each input is sampled in parallel and then quantized with an analog-to-digital converter. The inputs are then stored channel by channel in a random access memory. The stored digital signals are converted back to serial analog signals and fed to a single bank of filters for spectrum analysis.

Pulsewidth is measured by dual-threshold circuitry which eliminates noise effects by means of a high threshold level which sorts pulses for minimum amplitude and a lower threshold level at which pulsewidth is measured when a pulse exceeds the higher threshold. Pulse repetition frequency is measured by counting PRI during the two periods between the three pulses and converting PRI into PRF by counting up to the stored PRI value at a known rate in a predetermined time period whereby the number of times that the count can proceed is equal to the PRF corresponding to the stored PRI.
