Abstract: A display system comprises a current source, pulse circuitry, a pulsed laser, control circuitry, and a display surface. The pulse circuitry outputs a first pulse of electrical current based upon electrical current emitted by the current source. The pulsed laser emits first light based upon the first pulse, wherein luminance of the first light is based upon a first amplitude of the first pulse. The control circuitry generates an estimate of pulse history effects on second light that is to be emitted by the pulsed laser, the estimate is generated based upon a parameter of the first pulse and a desired luminance of the second light. The control circuitry causes the pulse circuitry to output a second pulse of electrical current based upon the estimate. Based upon the second pulse, the pulsed laser emits second light with the desired luminance.

Abstract: One example provides, on a scanning mirror display system, a method for communicating timing information for light samples that are scanned to form a displayed image. The method comprises, for a line of light samples, encoding timing information for a first light sample of the line of light samples using a first, greater number of bits to form encoded timing information for the first light sample. The method further comprises encoding timing information for a subsequent light sample of the line of light samples by computing a derivative based upon a timing of the subsequent light sample compared to a prior light sample, encoding the derivative using a second, lesser number of bits to form encoded timing information for the subsequent light sample, and sending the information for the first light sample and the subsequent light sample across the communications channel.

Abstract: A printing head module, system and method for printing laser light sources. The printing head module comprises one or more printing heads used for printing a plurality of laser light sources on a substrate successively or once for all; ink used for printing comprises a luminescent dye and a host material, as well as a solvent. The system comprises a printing head module and an ink cartridge; the printing head module is used for inkjet printing the laser light sources on the substrate; the ink cartridge is used for storing ink. By means of the technical solution, industrial manufacturing of the laser light sources is achieved, and speckles caused by laser coherence are eliminated.

Abstract: An optical scanner and an optical scanning control method. The optical scanner includes a light source configured to emit light, a light deflector configured to deflect the light emitted from the light source to scan a scanning area two-dimensionally in a main scanning direction and a sub-scanning direction, and a photodetector configured to detect scanning light deflected by the light deflector to perform scanning on a detection field included in the scanning area. In the scanning area, a detection scanning area is formed by the scanning light so as to include an end of the detection field, and a size of the detection scanning area is changed. The optical scanning control method includes forming a detection scanning area by scanning light so as to include an end of a detection field included in a scanning area that is two-dimensionally scanned, and changing a size of the detection scanning area.

Abstract: Techniques are described for operating a display system comprising a light source, a scanning assembly, and a controller. The light source includes a plurality of emitters arranged in a column. The scanning assembly includes a reflective surface. A control signal including linear or sinusoidal pulses is applied to cause the reflective surface to rotate. The controller drives the emitters in sequence, using a same image data value, and in synchronization with the rotating of the reflective surface such that light emitted by different emitters of the plurality of emitters is reflected onto a same pixel of an output image. Changes in rotational speed are compensated for through increasing an emission duration for a first row driven while the reflective surface is rotating at a slower rotational speed, relative to an emission duration for a second row driven while the reflective surface is rotating at a faster rotational speed.

Abstract: A head-mounted device (HMD) is configured to perform depth detection with a stereo camera pair comprising a first camera and a second camera, both of which are configured to detect/capture visible light and IR light. The fields of view for both of the cameras overlap to form an overlapping field of view. The HMD also includes an IR dot-pattern illuminator that is mounted on the HMD with the cameras and that is configured to emit an IR dot-pattern illumination. The IR dot-pattern illuminator emits a dot-pattern illumination that spans at least a part of the overlapping field of view. The IR dot-pattern illumination adds texture to objects in the environment and enables the HMD to determine depth for those objects, even if they have textureless/smooth surfaces.

Abstract: In an MEMS projector (10), an image signal processing unit (110) outputs an inspection signal, and an inspection signal processing unit (114) outputs a light emission instruction signal. An inspection light source drive unit (112) outputs a light emission signal, and an inspection light source (13) radiates an inspection light. The inspection light radiated from the inspection light source (13) is reflected at the reflection position RP of a first support portion (22), and then received by a light receiver (14). Then, the light receiver (14) outputs a received light signal. Based on the received light signal, the inspection signal processing unit (114) detects the angle of the light deflecting mirror (20) around the X axial line.
