摘要： A connector includes a housing attached to a board; a ground terminal including a ground base disposed in the housing, and a first ground connection part extending from the ground base toward a first end of the housing and to be connected to a ground line of a coaxial cable; and a signal terminal including a signal base that is held in the housing and surrounded by the ground base while being insulated from the ground base, and a first signal connection part extending from the signal base toward the first end of the housing and to be connected to a signal line of the coaxial cable. The ground terminal and the signal terminal are configured to elastically bend at a second end of the housing when the housing is attached to the board.

The dielectric insert may have structural features that extend axially along an exterior of the dielectric insert with air gaps between the structural features. The outer contact may include a rear housing that is interchangeably coupled to either a plug housing or a jack housing at the housing interface. The center contact may be configured to be terminated by a plurality of different termination techniques in different applications.

摘要： A conducting housing (to be closed by a lid) for a coaxial cable distribution network has a common port and one of an aerial or pedestal port. A motherboard carries an RF circuit and a transfer switch. In one setting of the transfer switch the RF circuit connects a coaxial pin at the common port with a coaxial pin at the pedestal port. In the other setting the common port pin is connected to the aerial port pin. When the aerial port is used on a rectangular housing, a transmission line forms part of the RF circuit between the motherboard and the aerial port. The transmission is preferably a central conductor spaced over most of its length by air from an outer conductor in the form of an inverted U enclosing the central conductor on three sides. Preferably a ground plane on the back of the motherboard connects to the transmission line outer conductor to provide a path entry in the housing at both ends for ground currents generated by signals in the RF path.

摘要： A terminating connector for a data transmission cable, wherein the cable is of a known characteristic impedance and is of the type having a signal carrying conductor and a shield. The connector is typically arranged to mate with a complementary connector of a backplane. An overmolded subassembly of the connector includes a first terminal electrically coupled at one end thereof to the shield, and a second terminal electrically coupled at one end thereof to the signal carrying conductor. A dielectric insert is disposed between the first and second terminals. The insert is dimensioned and has a dielectric constant such that the characteristic impedance of the subassembly substantially matches the characteristic impedance of the cable. The subassembly may be secured to a surrounding housing.

摘要： A termination system for coupling to further circuitry one or more miniature coaxial cables terminated with respective impedance matched terminators each including a center signal contact and a concentric tubular sleeve contact having an external contact surface. The termination system includes a receptacle for a single terminator or a carrier block for a plurality of terminators. The receptacle includes a center pin contact extending along an axial extent of the receptacle, an outer tubular shell contact coaxially positioned with respect to the pin contact and having an internal contact surface for electrically connecting with the external contact surface of a terminator sleeve contact, and a spacer for maintaining electrical isolation and spaced relation of the pin and shell contacts for matching the impedance of the receptacle to that of the terminator and cable. The carrier block for a plurality of terminators is a conductive plate-like member having plural openings for receiving and electrically engaging with the external contact surface of respective terminator sleeve contacts thereby to couple the same to a common reference potential, such as ground reference potential, and is mountable and electrically connectable to a printed circuit board by a port member. The port member serves as a socket mount for the carrier block and, in the absence of a carrier block, serves to protect a plurality of pin contacts mounted to the printed circuit board for electrically connecting with the center signal contact of respective terminators held in the carrier block. Also disclosed are a resistance terminator and a shunt terminator.
